Greetings!
My name is Richard, people call me Solman [pronounced Soul-Man]. I am a musician from Trinidad and Tobago, and my joy is creating and playing music to help us remember the beauty of life. (More about me below)
The EP
For years I have dreamed of creating some awesome high quality recordings of my songs to share with you beautiful people. My goal is to create a five-song EP full of vibes to make your heart sing, soul celebrate and body dance.
The songs have all been written and I am set to work with the awesome team at Kin Sound Studios in St. Anns, Trinidad, to produce and record them.
BUT…I can’t do this without your backing.
The Costs
Well friends... studio recording is always a costly process. In order to make this dream a reality, I need your support to help pay for studio time, musicians, mixing and mastering fees, printing and distribution costs, and marketing fees. Then the magic can happen!
Break it downnn:

A Little More About Me And My Journey
I love music. I have been playing music since I was thirteen. My passion took me to The Berklee College of Music where I studied for two years until my life took an unexpected turn.
I decided to return home to be with my father who was battling cancer. He would pass away just two weeks after my return.
I found myself wondering deeply why there seemed to be so much suffering in life, and what was really meaningful and true – I looked to nature for answers.
I walked in solitude in Trinidad’s wondrous rainforests, I learnt about working with earth on a local permaculture farm, I dedicated time to studying with teachers of Trinidad’s many different spiritual traditions, and I devoted myself to meditation and contemplation, even living as a monk in an ashram for almost two years.
All of my songs have come from this profound journey and are full of themes of love, hope, healing, and the exquisite beauty of our humanity – the celebration, the longing, the hopes, the heartbreak, the sweetness and the loss, the joys and the fears.
My sound is deeply influenced by the life and vibe of Trinidad and Tobago – the breezy feeling of the beaches and rivers, the heavily rhythmic beat in all of our music, the celebration and sweetness in the eyes and hearts of the people.
I have been writing and performing around Trinidad and Tobago since 2011. I have created an annual concert series called Gazebo Jam, where people gather outdoors under the stars to share in a magical night of music and inspiration. In 2013, together with my close friend Oliver Milne I won a national competition for a song and music video called “Lessons of the Forest” that speaks of the importance of caring for nature in order to have food security.
In 2015 I released a demo CD with eleven (mostly home recorded) songs.
I feel such a deep humble gratitude when I share my songs and people reach out to me with teary eyes and bright faces to tell me how much they were touched or inspired by my music. Moments like that make it all worthwhile, and it’s my dream now to share my songs with as much people as I can.
This EP is the next step in that dream. Your support and encouragement means the world to me.
Thank you!
I love you!
