I’ve applied for the Darmasiswa Indonesian Scholarship. If I get accepted, it starts in September 2014. The scholarship doesn’t cover the trip
from the applicant’s home country to the place of study. So I’ve started
thinking: „Wouldn’t it be great to cycle all the
distance to Indonesia?”
I’m really confident in my chances so I've begun planning my trip anyway. I leave in April and I have only 4 months to reach Indonesia.

Quite the adventure, huh? :) But the real journey isn't about numbers, it's about those moments that cannot be accounted, bad or good.

How is going to be cycling solo as a female so many kilometers? It's going to be crazy, chaotic at times, overwhelmingly beautiful at other times. Being on the road makes you live in the moment, and I know no other more liberating feeling.
Camping, finding shelter, food is a daily struggle but the people encountered, the scenery are well worth it. On bike you travel at a pace slow enough to allow you to experience
what you see, but fast enough to get you somewhere and the greatest
thing about it: you can stop whenever wherever.
To my knowledge I'd be the first Romanian woman cycling solo such a
distance. I like to believe that my trip would be an inspiration to
other women to
push outside their comfort zone and challenge themselves.

In the summer of 2012 I’ve
learned to bike by myself, at 26 years old, in the park, with a children bicycle. I’m a mignon
(not evil though) and I felt that I’m safe only if I can stop the bike by
putting my feet on the grund. Soon after that I was already bate in the hectic
traffic of Bucharest. It was not long and I started to volunteer in cyclotouring projects and marking offroad cycling routes.
And this is Nelu, a 26er hardtail bike with V-brakes, named after my father.

10 000 E it's quite a large amount. But every beginning requires an investment. Almost 50 % will be spent on cyclotouring gear: for camping, bike equipment like panniers and racks, electronic equipment like GPS bike computer and satellite communication device. I have studdied my fair share of cyclotouring blogs to make the best choices.
If it lasts and keeps you safe, then it doesn't come cheap.
Visas are any traveler's nightmare. To be able to reach Indonesia by September, I need to apply for visas before leaving. In order to smooth the process I’ll use the services of local travel agencies. It smoothes the process, but also increases the expenses.
This is an ideal budget. Even if I don't get fully funded, I'm determined to start my journey, once I gather the minimum of 6000 E.

This is a flexible funding campaign. Most of the perks are deliverable before I start the journey. If for whatever reason I am not able to deliver your perk, your money will be refunded.

*,** - travelling on bike can get messy. If for whatever reason I am not able to send you a post card or letter from the country of your choosing, than you'll be notified and you can choose . You will be notified as soon as possible, via e-mail, after I mail them to you. Each post card/ letter is written especially for you. As proof I'll be posting pictures/ paragraph on the blog (with your previous consent)

45 E - Creative CV - Aren't you bored of the typical CV
written in Word? If you are the creative type but have no skills in any
graphic design software, then this is the perk for you. Together we'll
come up with the best sollution for yor CV to trully represent you!
You'll receive it in the digital format you need.
Because it's a
flexible campaign I'll start working on your CV as soon as we establish
all the details. Delivery in maximum a month.

80 E - Do you have an idea of a drawing but you can't put it on paper? With this perk we'll come up together with your desired illustration. Your custom drawing will be done using digital tools like Photoshop, Illustrator or Sketchbook. You'll receive it in digital format, the sizes you need and agree upon.
Because it's a flexible campaign I'll start working on the drawing as soon as we establish all the details. It will be finished in maximum a month.

500 E -
A time capsule
Do you know
what a time capsule is? Well a time capsule is a historic cache of
memorabilia specific to a time, people or place, placed with the intention that
it will be opened or accessed at a future date.
The container is water
proof. All items included in the time capsule are things gathered along the way
and non rotting, but
also items as personal notes, drawings ecc.
You (and only you) will reveceive a
GPS code of where your time capsule is burried. I’m using inReach satellite communicator to embed location coordinates. Please take into
consideration that it has an accuracy of +/− 5 meters. This is why I’m going to bury the time capsule near an easy to spot landmark
(like an unusual tree or rock) and you’ll receive also a photo of the landmark.
All time capsules are burried in remotely
unpopulated places, but you should still
be aware that in time it’s possible for someone else to discover your
time capsule. So the sooner you go hunting for your time capsule the greater
the chances your 500 E are well spent.
Upon request I can e-mail you also pictures of the content, but I think it's more exciting to discover it by yourself.

Most of the perks will be delivered before I start my journey, some of them even before the campaign ends.
I will be traveling solo. Setbacks can arise. The blog will be updated as soons as it is possible.
You can not take this kind of journey without even considering you may not get to end it. I'll communicate constantly with someone back home and, if this does happen, your money will be fully refunded for the perks non deliverable.
