Is this an unlocked phone? Yes. The Sonim XP7 Extreme is an Unlocked smartphone that works on any GSM/3G/4G LTE carrier around the world---this means that you don’t need a contract for the phone, and can use the XP7 Extreme with any compatible carrier and switch anytime.
What is the trial service from Ultra Mobile?
We’ve included a Trial Service period (US Customers Only) of mobile service: The XP7 Extreme ships activated with a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) and Trial Service from Ultra Mobile. This means your first month’s service is compliments of Ultra Mobile, and includes Unlimited Nationwide & International Talk, Unlimited Global Text, Unlimited Data (1st GB at 4G LTE speed) and $10 of international call credit.
What happens after my first month’s credit expires?
Once the balance included for the Trial Service has been depleted, you will need to refill the balance with Ultra Mobile, or switch to service from a compatible carrier. This means that you need to take the phone to a compatible operator, and to sign up for service to have a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) installed. Sonim supplies a tool and detailed instruction for safe installation of a SIM card into the XP7.
Is this compatible with my existing cell phone carrier?Maybe. The Sonim XP7 Extreme is compatible with any North American GSM/HSPA/LTE operator. This includes noted operators such as AT&T Wireless, and T-Mobile, and the new and improved Metro PCS, or Canadian operators like Bell Mobility or Telus, as well as Mobile Virtual Network Operators such as Ultra, H20 Wireless, StraightTalk, Net 10 and others.
***This Sonim XP7 Extreme model is NOT compatible with CDMA/LTE operators such as Sprint or Verizon Wireless.***
What if I’m a Verizon or Sprint subscriber? Can I use the Sonim XP7 Extreme with them?If you’re a current Verizon Wireless and Sprint Customers your Sonim XP7 Extreme will ship with the Ultra Mobile Trial Service detailed above. Following your trial service, we highly recommend that you continue service with Ultra Mobile. Your phone is unlocked, so if you choose to continue to use Ultra Mobile, you are all set, or you can choose any other compatible wireless operator.

The XP7 Extreme edition is the active sports variation of the XP7 currently being offered. The housing is all black, versus the industrial black/yellow motif of the commercial/industrial edition. Additionally, we plan to offer preloaded apps targeted to the Active Sports users, and with some models, sports specific accessories.
