My name is Micheal Bemma, my wife Jeanette and I have been making independant films for nearly 3 years now. One week before our first project we had our 4th child, Daniel (he spent much of the shoot on set).

We've done 7 films so far, and completed film school, and now we've signed with Stephen King to make one of his shorts into a short film, Strawberry Spring (from his Night Shift collection).

We are doing this adaptation to show what we can do. Normally we simply shoot with what we have, but since this is Stephen King, it deserves much more.  Normally when we have a location for 1 day, we cram as much in to that day as possible. If we need 4 days at a location, then we need 4 days, which means 4 times the cost to rent. Making every other movie off of virtually no budget, this has never been an option. It has to be an option this time.

This finished film will be truly something to be proud of, a major Canadian made true indie film. This will be our calling card for larger projects, this will play at film festivals (hopefully for many years to come), and we want you to be apart of all this.

We have always managed to get our films done, even if it's a 54 page script in 2.5 days, or  a 21 page script in 3, or a script outline that turned into a 30 minute movie, shot in 6 hours. They all share 1 thing, we rushed through the shooting process. We want more rehearsals, we want time to cover more shots, we want more locations available to us. When this is shown at film festivals, we get the chance to entertain a large audience (well large for us). Somewhere along the line, many film makers forgot this is about entertaining people, it's not about making money, unfortunately we can't shoot this without some money. Locations are not free, wardrobe is not free, fog (ok, well fog can be free, but not on demand), insurance, you get the drift. We need your help.

Some locations like the historical Parkwood Estates in Oshawa (many movies have been shot there) can cost upwards of $31,000 + deposit, to rent for the film. Now, Parkwood is amazingly beautiful, but other things have to come first.

Our current budget is just over $20,000 (our goal of 22,000 - 4%fees). That will give us rentals for Camera / Lights / Sound / Food / Makeup / Lodging / Props, lots and lots of Fog (it's part of a Strawberry Spring), many different locations (not Parkwood) and maybe have some money for our poor starving actors. If we can surpass our goal that would mean extra things such as a camera crane (for some cool over the head shots), maybe the Fire Marshall, some stunt men and a car driven into a tree. We could easily spend $500,000 making this movie (and it would be spectacular) but we have to be realistic.  A professional crew would be another $20,000 on top of my already budgeted 20k. After that comes Parkwood. But first and foremost is raising the initial funds for the fog (okay, well other stuff too)!

Funding Levels :

1. $0.00 Shoot this with what we have in our backyard :(
2. $11,000 Some upgrades / rentals, a couple of needed locations.
3. $20,000 All the rentals we need, and all the locations we need.
4. $35,000 Professional Crew, Top Locations, Great wardrobe, Props.
5. $50,000 this would give us the ability to shoot at Parkwood for a couple days.
6. Over $50,000 The car accident, police & fire vehicles, an actual wardrobe department, a couple extra days of shooting (this would make a huge difference).

A little about our perks :

Normally of course with a movie you get a digital copy, a dvd, or even a Blu-ray. Well unfortunately as we will not own the copyright on this, we cannot offer copies. Only Mr. Stephen King will be able to sell / distribute this (with the exemption of film festivals) so we are offering some custom photo gifts from behind the scenes.
