Flipping the script on the classic superhero story.
Hi, I'm Chloe. I'm currently a film student at Second City's new Harold Ramis Film School. I've considered myself a writer since the day I met a pen and blank page.
I was compelled to start making my own films at the age of 30 after a lifetime of not seeing the stories that spoke to my experiences portrayed on screen. I write, direct, produce, and am a self-taught video editor. I'm pursuing my dream of becoming a filmmaker after a decade of working full-time, and I'm currently financing my night + weekends film school with a full-time career in the fitness industry. Not only am I a female filmmaker, I'm a Latina one. I point this out merely for the fact that there aren't many of us out there in the mainstream, and that needs to change.
This campaign is important because I want to share my passion of telling unconventional stories, especially ones that have the potential to make people see the world in a different way.
The film Super Lupe is about a person with low social status who turns out to have the most power. The story is inspired by the many immigrants I’ve come across in life. They are often the hardest workers. As a child of an immigrant, I’ve witnessed firsthand how prejudices can immediately divide people. Finding common ground - or universal truths - is what helps bridge that divide.
Your contribution would help bring a new kind of superhero story to life. The funds would go towards the production: props, renting equipment, feeding crew, executing action sequences, and FX.
If Super Lupe is a success, I will then embark on telling the bigger story - which is the feature screenplay (also titled Super Lupe).
