SURVIVING THE DEAD
Survivng The Dead is a webseries that follows Shayla. Shayla is a nurse who's working in a hospital when a mysterious "flu" takes over the city. Shayla is forced to flee the city with her younger sister Lucy. They soon discover that the virus, is a lot more serious than anyone could have ever imagined. Not only is their father somehow involved with the virus, Shayla and Lucy are now being hunted by the Government. Shayla and Lucy are in a race against time to not only find their father, but save the fate of mankind.
- My name is Reagan Gomez. I've been an actress in Hollywood for over 20 years. I love what I do but I'm also well aware of the lack of quality roles and opportunities given to people of color in the business. Both in front and behind the camera. It's up to us to change this.
- I'm raising $8,500 to make this show happen. I've raised money via Indiegogo twice for seasons 1 and 2 of my first webseries, Almost Home. I'm extremely proud of the show and I'm looking to continue to create original content starring people of color.
- This show and campaign are extremely important. This show is all about Sci-Fi. People of color love Sci-Fi shows and films. But rarely are we represented in said shows and films. The running joke is, if there's a black guys in the movie, he dies first. And black women, well....we aren't considered at all. We're never the hero. We never survive till the end. We're never the stars. It's time for that to change and I need your help and donations to make that happen.
What We Need & What You Get
Here's what we need and what you get for your donation:
- We need $8,5000 to make this show happen. 100% of your donations are going to pre-production, production/shooting and post-production. We will be using EVERY. SINGLE. DOLLAR...to make this show be the best webseries that it can be.
- We have great Perks! Some of our Perks for donating include autographed pictures of myself and the cast, your name in the "special thanks" portion of the credits, autographed scripts, personal phone calls, personal thank you videos, Skype sessions with myself and/or the cast and more!
- If we do NOT reach our $8,5000 goal, we will stretch every, penny as far as we can to make the show be the best that it can be. But we need to reach our goal.
The Impact
Having been an actress in the business for over 20 years, I have a platform and I feel as though it's my responsibility and the responsibility of others with bigger platforms than mine to help actors of color coming behind us. I also think it's our responsibility to inspire up and coming film makers and let them know that you don't need Hollywood gatekeepers to determine what films/shows or content you produce and create. Create your own and use the web.
- It's our responsibility to let up and coming actors/directors/film makers know that you don't have to wait for the approval of traditional Hollywood gatekeepers. They've made billions NOT telling our stories. There's no incentive or rush for them. I want to inspire folks and let them know that they don't have to wait. You control your destiny. Produce, Shoot and Post.
- This will be my THIRD webseries, including both seasons 1 and 2 of my first Webseries Almost Home (I also raised money for both of those seasons on IndieGoGo) and we hope we've proven ourselves, creatively and professionally. This show will be a total 180 from Almost Home and we're SO excited about it! You can't put film makers of color into a box. We love ALL genre's. We support All genre's. It's time for us to be represented also. And live longer than the first scene. lol!
- The only reason we've been able to grow our Youtube channel is because of your support and donations. You guys believed when we didn't even have a clip or picture to post for season 1. You donated and trusted us. And you did the same for season 2. And because of your donations, we're now prepping for our third webseries, and we won't stop.
Risks & Challenges
As with any production, there are risks involved. But NONE of those risks will involve your funds going anywhere other than towards the production.
- We will keep you updated with casting and our production schedule.
- Any challenges we run into, we're confident we'll be able to overcome. We have a great team involved already (producer, DP, ect) so between all of us, we have enough experience to solve any problem.
