Our film SUZI Q is a detailed and relentlessly honest portrait of a very individual performer and personality, charting a life and a remarkable 53-year long career in the public spotlight- from Detroit, to London and around the world.
Driven initially by our passion for Suzi's music and a curiosity about her career, we were motivated to make a film that told her story in full. Filming in numerous locations in the UK, the USA, Europe and Australia, we interviewed more than 60 people and combed through hours of archive footage and stills. See our teaser trailer for just some of the key people we met along the way. What we didn't ever expect was that we could uncover such a rich and layered story that involves an entire family and generations of musicians who acknowledge her pioneering influence.
Along the way our film became a revision of the accepted history of women in rock'n'roll and reinstates Suzi to her rightful place as the first woman to lead a rock band, play an instrument, sing and write her own material - and rock out! Not to mention her extended career as an actor, author, radio-presenter and poet.
Our intention has always been to make a film that spoke to long term Suzi fans, while also introducing her to a whole new generation(s) that may have never heard Suzi's records or understand the doors she opened for women who followed in her wake.
We have already secured funding from private investors, 2 Australian film agencies, post-production houses and the resources of the key filmmaking team - now we are seeking just the last 15% of the budget to complete the film. Our expectation is for SUZI Q to screen in cinemas, at Festivals and on broadcasters all around the world; where acknowledgement of your support to the film will be seen wherever it screens, forever.

We have already had some wonderful backers who assisted us with the development and production of the film to date. As we reach the end of the process to complete the film to professional standards - and to do Suzi's story justice in a manner that we know all fans would want to see - we are seeking your support to help us finish the film. This last $100,000 will go towards the final post-production phase of the film, which includes the sound design and mix ; securing the rights to the hundreds of stills & archive footage spanning Suzi's life and career from 1950 to the present; and assist with licensing the 42 songs used in the film - all of which need to be legally 'cleared' and licensed before a film can be released to the public. So when you contribute to the SUZI Q campaign you are literally a part of making the film happen; part of assisting us to bring it to the world.

As an incentive to supporters we have put together what we believe is a unique collection of special 'perks' for the various contribution levels. Most items being offered are exclusive to supporters of the film and are not available elsewhere, including bespoke artworks, framed photographs and custom Suzi Q film T-shirts ( in both male and female cuts/various sizes).
And as Suzi continues to tour around the world this year we will also endeavour to provide concert tickets to our international supporters wherever we can, as a bonus benefit, depending on where you live.
