If you are a regular user of earphones and are frustrated with tangled earphones, then Tangle is for you!!
We dug deep into the problem of tangled earphones and and found that in order to untangle earphones, it requires the user's focused attention, which means that the user will be distracted from her original work for a few minutes. This is what creates the frustration.
Our solution for Tangled earphones does not require your focused attention to use an earphone. Tangle is designed to be so simple to use that you can take your earphones out and listen to music without loosing focus on your primary task.

Let the Tangle that you use, speak about your personality.
The things that we wear reflects our personality. With everything that we use, we are making a statement to the world about what kind of person we are. Some of us are sports enthusiasts, some of us are coldplay fans, some of us are geeks, some of us are cooks .. all of us are something and love something. We associate them with our personalities. Something we want the world to know. Let your Tangle show how cool you are.
Every Tangle has its own personality by virtue of its design that reflects the personality of the designer/maker and its user.
You can get Tangles in designs that reflects your style, personality and interests. Maybe you might want a Pink Floyd Tangle, maybe a Ferarri Tangle, maybe a Meme Tangle. Show the world what you love.

Give your customers a Tangle with your branding on it. We strongly believe Tangle is better branding tool than Tshirts because your customers don't wear your Tshirt everyday, while they are likely to carry your Tangle everywhere with them.

![Your support will help design a maker revolution Your support will help design a maker revolution]()
At Makeystreet, we are trying to design a maker revolution. The problem that we are addressing is "How do makers find and discover parts for the projects that they are working on". We as makers had a hard time finding parts for the projects that we used to work on. At Makeystreet, we want to make life easier of the maker in you.
![Lets make something today!!]()
Let out the maker in you !!
We strongly believe that, if we empower more people to be makers, then these makers can go around and solve many challenges and problems in this world, that the coorporates don't want to. The money that we raise will also go into funding this startup. Help us design a maker revolution.
If choose "Support Makeystreet" reward, you will be acknowledged as one of the early supporters of Makeystreet.
![How will your money help? How will your money help?]()
Specifically a lot of the money will go into redesigning the die-punch. We did a die-punch for $200 with which we made the TEDxKids@rspuram Tangles. Although the audience at TEDxKids@rspuram loved Tangle, we were not happy with the quality of the cut that we made for them. We think the precision of cut can be made better so that the Tangle would look a lot more classy and would feel better. The new die punch is a lot more precision and will last longer. It is expected to cost $2000-3000. The money that you give will go into making the product a lot more finished and top notch.
The rest of the money will go towards building a search engine for maker parts. We want to build a search engine just for makers so that it will become easier for you to make something.
We have tested the Tangle for over 9 months and are happy with its performance. Your money will help us make Tangle more polished and finished. Each of the designs that you submit for Tangle will give the Tangle a personality of its own that reflects its maker and user.
![About us About us]()
This is our story!
My name is Alex. I am the dude sitting on the right of the picture. On the left of the picture is Arun. Both of us are batchmates from the Department of Engineering Design, IIT Madras. After graduating from IIT in 2012, we decided to take a year off instead of taking a job. We thought we could do better than that ! We wanted to explore what is it that we really want to do.So for exactly one year we have been experimenting.
Both of us have a lot of interest in product design and making 'things'. The products that we have built might not be perfect but one day we will get there. Some of the projects that Arun worked on are
-
Page Flipper
- MaPaMan
-
Water saving toilet
Some of the projects that I worked on are
-
Magic Karpet - Intuitively controlled electric skateboard -
- Solar lanterns for kerosene replacement
- CNC foam cutter

One of the things that we noticed is that, all our work has always stayed at the project stage. None of them got to the market. Both of us wanted to build a product that can be taken to the market. So we came us with 'Tangle'. This is our attempt to see if we can build a very simple product, so simple that you can make it at home if you are in so much of a need.
Both of us want to pursue our interests of designing products but the paths that we chose to experiment are different. Arun has decided to pursue a PhD in CMU Robotics Institute, while I decided to pursue entrepreneurship.
In the last one year of our experimental life, one thing we came across is the maker culture. We figured out that there is a community of people who love making stuff, just like we do. As part of my entrepreneurial journey, the company I want to build is for the makers. At makeystreet we are building a search engine for maker parts. One of the problem that we as makers have experienced is that, it is very hard to find and discover parts for what we build. We validated the need with makers around us. The money that we generate from sales of 'Tangle' will go to funding this company.

![How we made Tangle .. How we made Tangle ..]()
A lot of really awesome people have attempted solving the problem of tangled earphones before us. Some of them are really cool. The reason why we decided to build a solution ourselves is that we could not find any product easily available that works for earphones that we were comfortable with. So we decided to build a product that is so easy to build that you can hack one yourself at home. Also we noticed that a many of the products that exist in the market are designed for certain specific earphones or is are inbuilt with the earphones. We wanted to make a solution that works for as many earphones as possible.
While we were at it, we thought why not make it completely customizable so that it can reflect our personality. We are makers and wanted the Tangle to reflect our maker personality so that we will be able to strike a conversation with other makers. Then we realized that everyone would want a Tangle that reflects their personality. And the designer Tangle was born !

![FAQ FAQ]()
What is the design for the regular Tangle?
You get to vote on the design for the regular/standard tangle.
I am not able to select the Tangles from makeystreet.com/tangle.
Right now the website is showcasing the designer Tangles that we have. We are actively coding the site. In a few days we get the functionality ready so that you can select your Tangles.
I am a designer. How do I submit a design for Tangle?
Send us a mail on alex@makeystreet.com. We will send you a kit, with instructions on how to create a Tangle. Make the Tangle and send it back to us and we will upload it on the site under your name.
What is the notch on the Tangle for?
Did we tell you that Tangle works for pretty much any earphone that you can think about? Well the notch is for making Tangle work with earphones that have a mic on the cord or for asymmetric earphones. For such earphones you will need to make a cut along the notch into the oval hole. Along the new cut that you made, you can pass the earphone end of the cord into the oval holes so that the specific earphone works with Tangle.
Why are there 4 circular holes?
After winding the earphone, you can pass the plug-end through any consecutive 2 holes out of the 4 circular holes in a stitching pattern. This will keep it in place. Due to varying lengths of earphone cord, you would never know where they end.
![How can you help? How can you help?]()
You can help us out in a couple of ways
Pre-order a Tangle and solve your earphone problem
Submit a designer Tangle for others to buy - If you are a graphic designer yourself, show the world how awesome you are and make some really cool Tangles.
Refer a graphics designer to design a Tangle - If you know a really awesome graphics designer. You can tell her about Tangle and ask her to design one.
Spread the word far and wide - help us reach out to others in need of a solution to tangled earphones.
By pre-ordering a Tangle you will help us cover the cost of the die punch and the research and development cost associated with it. It will also give us some flexibility to experiment with different print technologies.
We have made 2 die punches so far. First one failed miserably. Second one was satisfactory. We think we can make the die a lot more better. Your money will help us get the best quality Tangle to you.
