Short Summary

We are on the verge of a renaissance of our own, one where we embrace creative collaboration to elevate our creations. The Art of Collaboration is where you can hear from the people who are masters of collaboration.

My name is Sydney Welch and I was inspired to write this book after dedicating my senior year of college to researching Leonardo da Vinci and the Italian Renaissance workshop. I became fascinated with the idea of renaissance and how to enter into one’s own. It occurred to me then that what the world needed to embrace collaboration.

My hope is that, in reading this book, you will discover how to utilize collaboration in your own creative practices. In this book, I hope to instill in you the same sort of passion and excitement that I have for collaboration. Ultimately, I want you to see this book as a tool to help you embrace collaboration and use it to collectively elevate your creations.

The Book - The Art of Collaboration

The book is written in 3 Parts....

Part 1 contains the introduction and additional chapters. This part covers the background of the Italian Renaissance workshop tradition, a look at how it has evolved in modern times, a breakdown of collaboration, and my story. 

Part 2 contains chapters that focus on the tools needed to successfully collaborate and examples and stories of what those tools look like in practice. You will dive into tools like emotional intelligence and defining roles in order to effectively collaborate. 

Part 3 contains chapters that highlight real-life testimonies of the power and success that come with collaboration. You will hear from creators, artists, and innovators who used collaboration to start or elevate their careers and creations.

About the Author

Sydney Welch is a young collaborator who has worked on multiple projects that have inspired her book. She worked on two public art projects that culminated in two murals being painted at the Glenside Train Station in Glenside, PA during her time at Arcadia University. She spent a year of her undergraduate studies traveling abroad where she initially came up with the radical idea of embracing collaboration. Sydney has since earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art History with a minor in Religion. During her senior year, she wrote her thesis on Leonardo da Vinci and the concept of Authorship, which inspired a large part of the book as well.

She believes in the power of collaboration to make things great. All of her greatest achievements have involved collaboration, and she truly believes that two heads are better than one!

When she is not writing, Sydney spends time with her friends and cousins in New Jersey for the summer. In the fall she will teach secondary English in Philadelphia at a Charter School. Sydney is excited to see how this book will influence her teaching and her future endeavors. She has thoroughly enjoyed writing this book and all the amazing conversations that have blossomed since she began it in February. She hopes the conversations will continue and is so grateful for all the support. 
 

Risks & Challenges

The biggest challenge with publishing a book is delivering the finished book to the backer, specifically my mailing of the book to you. I have eliminated this risk by building into the campaign the mailing and shipping costs of your signed copies to you within each pre-order tier.

The risk of delivering the pre-sale copies of my book is contingent on the publisher we use. I will be working closely with New Degree Press to make sure we get the earliest possible ship date of the signed book copy to you. We will keep all pre-sale backers up-to-date as my book hits each key milestone and publishes. You will know when the copies of my book you pre-ordered are expected to ship.
