The Bay Area Music Tribute Mural is an ambitious project that celebrates the vibrant musical heritage of the greater San Francisco/Oakland area. This large-scale outdoor public mural will honor 200 musicians and bands from various genres and eras who have contributed to the region's vibrant music scene.
This will be the second mural in the Sounds of Our Town local music tribute project, created by Jason Savage Images. We completed the Portland Music Mural in the summer of 2023. Now our team is gearing up to create something special in San Francisco.
PROJECT DETAILS
Location and Design
This stunning mural will span multiple building facades on both sides of the 100 block of Fern Street in the Lower Nob Hill area, creating a breathtaking visual experience. It will feature a diverse array of musicians, including iconic names like The Grateful Dead, Journey, 2pac, Metallica, Sly & the Family Stone, Santana, Green Day, Jefferson Airplane, and many more!

The centerpiece of this mural will be the iconic Music City Hotel / San Francisco Music Hall of Fame building!
Funding and Timeline:
Our project aims to raise $100,000 through this Indiegogo campaign to cover various costs such as:
- Initial concept art
- Materials
- Equipment rental
- Muralist fees and parking
- Unveiling event
- Promotional materials
- Producer fee
-Advisor fee
If the goal is not reached, local business sponsors will be sought to complete the funding. The tentative unveiling date is set for December 13th, 2024.
