The Dance of the Hours
Outreach. Performance. Collaboration. This is art for the 21st Century
On February 20th, 2016, local dancers and musicians will join together to perform Dance of the Hours, a short ballet composed by Amilicare Ponchielli in which the hours of the day, from dawn to night, are represented by solo and ensemble dances. Once one of the most performed ballets, today it is best known from the satirical dance of animals in Disney's Fantasia.
Northeastern Wisconsin Dance Organization and Civic Symphony of Green Bay are both long standing performing arts organizations in Green Bay. Operating with nominal budgets as separate organizations, NEWDO and CSGB have provided opportunities for local dancers and musicians of all ages in professional level performances. Through The Dance of the Hours, our partnership will allow our dancers and musicians to work together. Performing with a live symphony is an incredible experience for a dancer, and the opportunity is rare even in large communities. Your donation will allow us to purchase costumes, choreography and rehearsal space to make it a reality for your neighbors and friends to participate or attend this special event.
Support of this partnership will also facilitate joint outreach programs to local organizations, including Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club of Green Bay through onsite educational experience. Both organizations believe the arts embrace and celebrate diversity and must be accessible to all members of the community. We intend to continue these collaborations to foster awareness and visibility of the arts for under-served youth so lacking in the Green Bay community.
Running a non profit arts organization isn't easy these days. Northeastern Wisconsin Dance Organization and Civic Symphony of Green Bay believe that with your help, we can work together to offer stronger, more vibrant performing arts for EVERYONE in the Green Bay community.
If you can't make a donation, we hope you'll pass this campaign along to your friends and family.
Even better...come see the concert on February 20th, 2016 at the Meyer Theater!
Best to you,
