What We Need & What You Get
Making a movie even in 2018 can be an expensive venture. Luckily, we've managed to cut down a lot of the usual big costs when making a film. As a result, we have a smaller budget than a lot of other feature films you may find on this and other crowd funding sites. In this case, smaller budget does NOT equal lower quality. We have been able to cut down on costs because we already own most of the equipment we're going to be using and also we(super moon studios) won't be paying ourselves. This has brought our budget to $2,200. With already owning equipment and not giving ourselves a single cent, this has made our budget much more flexible and is more money that can be put into production to deliver a high quality film. This budget of $2,200 will cover paying our crew, feeding cast and crew, gas/travel, lodging, additional equipment we need to buy like extra lights, a few post production costs, and festival fees.
Even with this small budget, every dollar donated is essential! That's why we've packed each reward tier with some incredible perks for those who donate! Here's a list of just a few perks you'll receive:
- Replica props from the film! Including a working music box and a hand painted skate deck!
- Digital and Physical copies of the film!
- 8x11 signed poster!
- Digital copy of the script
- Your chance to have a cameo in the film!
- Your name in the end credits!
Some of these perks are in extreme limited quantity, so don't delay!
Why This Film?
The Edge of the Universe started as a short film called This Place Sucks. The short followed Luna the day before she leaves her hometown for good. After reviewing the short, we began to realize that there was immense potential for a much bigger story that could be told.

We believe that we have created a film that is unique, original, and raw. The film deals with themes of: loneliness, finding your place in the world, emotional abuse, and self discovery. We believe that films that highlight these matters are more important now than ever. With recent films such as Lady Bird, Eighth Grade, and Love, Simon, it's become clear that audiences want to see stories about growing up, human connections and finding our place in this crazy world. Our ultimate goal as filmmakers is to make a body of work about human connections and experiences. This film is our first step into reaching that goal.
Here's actors Nick Oski and Stephanie Elizabeth talking about the characters they play in the film:
Here's director Zach Chechile talking a little bit about the film:
Risks & Challenges
With all films of any size budget, there are going to be risks and challenges that will be met along the way. Some of the challenges we're going to face on this film, is that because this is a road trip movie, we're going to real life locations. The saying "what can go wrong will go wrong" is something that will be kept in mind when making this film. We have to plan for inclement weather, locations falling through, possible car and equipment trouble, and because we're a small production and can't afford to close down sections of our locations; working around the public while filming our scenes could be an issue.
With all our combined experience, we believe that we can over come a lot of these challenges. However, donating to our campaign will help relieve some of the burden of these issues.
