The First 100 Days of Activism
Since taking office on January 20, Donald Trump has signed a flurry of executive orders that clawed back progress on women's reproductive rights, effectively banned Muslims from enering the United States, and reversed important environmental protections. His proposed "hard power" budget shreds vital programs and begins the dismantling of whole sections of government. And despite setbacks, the Republican administration continues to advanced on its promise to repeal Obamacare with replacement legislation that de-funds Planned Parenthood and leaves millions without healthcare. All the while, his fledgling administration is mired in controversy.
It's little wonder, then, that this president has drawn citizens to the streets, to airports, to town hall meetings to raise our voices in opposition to his dangerous policies. And at every rally and protest, we bring signs. Beautiful, outrageous, poignant, and pointed signs.
The First 100 Days: Activism in a Divided America catalogs those signs and the stories behind them. Citizen Activists are invited to share their photographs to be collected in a coffee-table-style book with two purposes: to honor the forceful, peaceful engagement of Americans of every color and stripe as they make their voices heard, and to raise funds for the programs and organizations gutted by Trump's cruel agenda. Currently, we are planning two editions: The Women's Health Edition supports Planned Parenthood and other community health initiatives. The Arts and Science Edition funds arts and environmental education organizations.
All profits raised through this campaign will directly benefit organizations that provide critical services, advocacy and education for communities that are at-risk by the Trump administration's heartless budget priorities. Organizations that will benefit from this project include:
By contributing to this campaign, you become an activist in your own right, showing your support for the people, program,s and issues that our current government deems unimportant.
The First 100 Days of Activism Project is curated by journalist and photographer Chris Shipley. You are invited to submit your photos and stories to be considered for inclusion on the First 100 Days website and/or one of its print editions.
The postcards, art photos, and books produced by this campaign are of the highest quality at the most reasonable cost so that 100% of the profit goes to the organizations doing great work in communities across America.
We've set a minimum target of $25,000, and we hope, through your generosity, we can do even more for these fine non-profits.
Other Ways You Can Help
Can't make a financial contribution? That's okay. You can have a positive impact on your community by helping to spread the word. Please share this campaign on Facebook and tweet your support using the hashtag #100DaysProject.
Do you have photos and stories from your demonstrations? Share your photos so that we can consider including them on the First 100 Days website and/or one of its print editions.
From the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU!
