Shibari / Kinbaku
The contemporary meaning of the word describes an ancient Japanese form of artistic rope bondage. Shibari style rigging beautifully contrasts and controls the human body in a submissive, intense and yes… romantic demonstration of passion.

A recent tidal wave has risen internationally based on books, movies, social media, and live performances that has greatly increased awareness of Shibari / Kinbaku as a sensual and credible art-form. People are discovering and attending conferences and workshops in ever increasing numbers across the world. 50 Shades has brought bondage to the minds of 60 million readers and Shibari has brought art, sensuality, and a new meaning to bondage.

Cirque Shibari is the first touring production, documentary and soundtrack to embark on a a world tour. We have scouted and brought together the world’s most talented Shibari /Kinbaku performers from the USA, Japan, France, Italy, UK, Australia, Canada and Germany. The World Tour is the first in an ongoing series of shows produced with Shibari as the main performance elements. We expect to bring the shows across North America, Europe, UK, Asia, and many other destinations around the world.

What
200 theatre style shows:
A full touring production including buses, trucks, trailers, performers,
musicians, crews, drivers, special effects, lighting, audio-sound, costumes,
props, and a lot of rope.....

2015, breaking for the summer months and starting again Sept – Dec 2015.
It is our goal to
continue touring this show until we have played in every location available to
us. We are planning multiple new scripts
and performances that will be built based upon audience reaction to the 1st
tour.

Why
The Shibari World Tour is the first of its kind, bringing together the globe's preeminent performers in a show that beautifully depicts the art, history and passion of Shibari. As we progress further into this incredible project, our focus currently rests on the creation of the documentary and soundtrack.
Documentary: The Making of Cirque Shibari (working title). We had 3 cameras rolling through the first
rehearsals and the footage is staggering, mesmerizing and revealing. What makes these incredible performers tick,
backgrounds, life choices, what drives them to want to bring this previously
obscure art-form to the stages of the world.
It is an incredible story as many of them have been performing Shibari
and Kinbaku in small clubs and venues around the world and in many cases, they have done so without payment, fees, or even expenses. They are Artists in the truest sense and they
deserve this chance.
Soundtrack: The soundtrack promises to be epic, erotic, cool,
dramatic, violent, soft and satisfying.
We are pulling music from interesting performers from Europe, UK, and
North America. We have secured a top
producer, arranger to score and record the orchestral parts and mix and master
the soundtrack bringing it all together with the highest possible production
values.
