Roll camera, and...
I’m Brian Foyster, the writer and director of the short film THE LAST TAKE. I got my BFA in Acting at SUNY Purchase and I’ve appeared in 34 films, 9 television shows, and 65 stage plays. I’ve written and directed several short films and I’ve written one feature that was stolen and made into a hit movie with sequels. I’m currently developing three television series: one high-concept thriller, one period drama, and one based on THE LAST TAKE. I’m a member of The Actors Studio and I also serve on its Board of Directors.
Action:
Set in Los Angeles in 1965, THE LAST TAKE centers around two movie stars who both got their start in 1935. They fell in love on set but were forced into fake marriages by the studio they were under contract with. After thirty years apart, one is met with tragic news and has only so much time to reach out to the other so they can finally reconcile their long lost love.
Liam Burke as Young Everett and Josh Trant as Young William
THE LAST TAKE is a celebration of love despite all of its obstacles. During Hollywood's golden age gay stars had to lie and hide their true selves if they wanted to succeed. Systematic homophobia, the early years. I want to make this film to finally tell their story, the one they couldn’t tell us. This film’s themes of love, consequence, and regret are timeless and relevant to today, making this story all the more important to be told. Love is love and a great story makes for a great movie.
Where we're at:
We had an amazing five day shoot around Los Angeles and one day of pickup shots with a gorgeous antique car in Beverly Hills:

What we need:
New funds raised will cover editing, color correction, sound, and music fees. Any amount over our goal will go toward festival fees. I've already put $20,000 of my own money toward the film because I've got skin in the game.

The impact
Here's what people have said about the current rough cut of the film:
"Amazing. Impeccably directed, beautiful production. Extremely well written. My only note is get this film in every top festival!!!" -Peter D.
"Hauntingly beautiful. Just fabulous, excellent. Original, beautifully acted and filmed." -Sile B.
"Gosh, Brian, it's really, really solid, beautiful, gorgeous, and moving. ALL performances are spot on." -Bob B.
"Holy smokes! This is so great! What a heartbreaking, beautifully told love story. Seriously, this is so well done!!!" -Michelle W.
Your contribution to the project will help us take the film out to festivals across the world. The film will then live as a proof of concept that will be pitched to networks for a limited TV series.
