Let us introduce ourselves
We're The Mourning Glories, a three-piece band based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The name kind of says it all... We were brought together after a terrible tragedy. Compelled to rise above the grief, we raised our voices in song. The music shone as a great light through the darkness and we haven’t stopped singin’ since. Our sound is based on close vocal harmonies and evokes the darker side of early 20th century blues and roots music.
Shelley Rickey, USA (guitar, ukulele, washtub bass, singing saw, vocals)
Miranda Ceara Rix-Hayes, CAN (banjo, clarinet, slide guitar, vocals)
Marie Herveline Caron, FRA (washtub bass, ukulele, singing saw, vocals)

We’ve traveled fast, we’ve come far
Being thrust upon the stage almost immediately after our formation in April of 2015, we spent endless hours exploring our abilities together as musicians and creating a solid live performance. During this process we have developed some exciting material and written our own original tunes. Through our experiences a deep bond has been formed, both between the three of us and with our listeners. We have completely dedicated ourselves to our music. Thankfully, many of you have been shouting, ‘More!’
Going for Glory
We are very eager to share our music with you and make it available to new listeners everywhere. Our ultimate goal is to be able to travel far and wide, performing for audiences all over the globe. But, first things first!... Our music has to meet the ‘right people’ and an album is the best letter of introduction. It’s what will help us get on the road to be amongst you beautiful music-loving people and the musicians whom we adore. We can’t think of any other place we’d rather be.

How do we get there from here?
The same way we got this far, with dedication, hard work and a lot of support. Our biggest hurdle is funding everything that is involved in making a full-length album. In short, we would need a minimum of 5,000 euros to record, duplicate and package an album. For this 30-day campaign we have set a slightly lower goal of 3,500 euros because we think that is achievable but hopefully, we will exceed this. This campaign has a 'fixed goal'. That means, if we don't hit our target of 3,500 euros within 30 days, we will receive none of the funds and your donation will be reimbursed. Below you can find a simple break down of each part of the recording process and the costs associated with them.
What's in it for you?
As you are essential to the process, we have put together some very special rewards in exchange for various donation amounts. These 'Thank You!' packages include such things as... a hand-bound book, a beautiful hand-printed poster, a live concert and even a sleep over at Glory HQ! There has even been a top-secret ‘Sweet Potato Pie’ recipe thrown in as a reward. This is big, y'all!

The Costs of recording our first album
- Recording Studio Rental (6 days), €600
- Recording & Mixing, €2090
- Mastering, €350
- Duplication €1750
- Photographer/Videographer €300
________________________________
Total = €5,090
We are trying to keep the costs down as much as possible by being well prepared, cutting down our studio time and donating things to the project ourselves, such as the artwork for the sleeve and liner notes. Should we exceed our minimum goal, we would invest more time in the studio, employ extra help in the making of the album, invite some more amazing musicians to join us and have some real vinyl records made. In general, the more funds we are able to raise, the more time and care we can invest into making this first album amazing. Your support will help us put our best work forward! We can do this!
