Hey there!
I am Danni (or Roadbloc) and I am currently developing The Mystery of Robot Planet! I love being creative in my spare time and after finishing my latest book I decided to focus my efforts on a video game. As a long time gamer and fan of many games, I have always made time to be developing silly little personal projects. This, however, is my first effort at something decent, something sellable and hopefully something awesome.
What I Need & What You Get
Normally, I would have completed this project in my own time like I did with my books. However, regretfully, I have recently found myself unemployed. This means I cannot continue dedicating time to this project until I find a replacement job ...or I am able to drum up some funds and keep my rent paid.
- I'm asking for £2000. If I reach this goal, it shall pay my rent for a while and I can continue development throughout my job search.
- Anything helps. Even if I don't reach the goal any contributions will equate to development time.
- All contributors who give £2 or more will receive a DRM-free copy of the game upon release for Windows, Mac and Linux.
- All funds will go on paying rent. I have zero development costs other than my time.
- Also, if I reach the full amount, I will put time and effort into researching how to make an Android port of the game. And then I'll port it. :)
The Game
The Mystery of Robot Planet is an 8bit-inspired adventure puzzle game. Graphically akin to early GameBoy Pokemon and Zelda titles. Gameplay similar to games like Monkey Island and Beneath a Steel Sky. Here is a list of the features my engine has to offer (so far)-
- Colourful top-down view of the game's world. In 8(ish) bits!
- Inspect any world object (for clues, plot exposition or inventory items).
- Speak to any NPC (again, for clues, plot exposition or inventory items).
- Inventory system for looking at inventory items, combining inventory items together, giving items to NPCs or using inventory items on world objects.
- Use in-game "terminals" (PCs) for clues, plot exposition, inventory items or puzzle mechanics.
- "Cutscene" engine to power automatic movement of player character or movement of NPCs.

If you cannot spare me the cash but like what you see, that's cool. But please consider sharing this page!! And the itch.io page!
