The News Dudes
Since the election, we, the team at The News Dudes, have realized that the majority of America does not get the news. Facts are getting lost – what’s real news, what’s fake news, who’s on what side, who is Russia currently screwing (it’s us by the way.) Americans no longer trust their existing news sources. So let’s give them a new one. One they can relate to. One that “tells it like it is” to the American public. Taking a page out of the current administration’s handbook, let’s not worry about being “politically correct” and just deliver “real talk.”
Enter THE NEWS DUDES, an animated series for people who want to understand the issues that are relevant to their lives but delivered in a way they can understand. Think Beavis and Butthead meets Drunk History for the current news cycle.
What Are We Doing?
If we meet our goal, we will create a season of six 15-min episodes of The News Dudes to begin airing fall of 2017. The more money we raise, the more episodes we can make!
The News Dudes is sketch comedy. We know the issues are serious but we also know people find the news boring and sometimes hard to understand. But it’s important, now more than ever, to know what’s going on. Even if you’re two stoners like The News Dudes.
Current sketches we’re working on include, "Cory Bookworm," "The Dating Game with Melania," "Ann Coulter's Reform School," "Paul Ryan Ramsey Michael Bolton," “Betsy DeVoss College of Astronomy," and "Pussyriot".

Where Can I Watch It?
We are currently in talks with some major networks - both cable and digital but at the very least, we will release it on our own YouTube channel and via Vimeo. Thanks to Indiegogo’s partnership with Vimeo, any backer that pledges $25+ will get early access to The News Dudes episodes this fall. You will also be able to purchase the show on iTunes if you don’t get an early season pass here now.
Why Are We Crowdfunding?
The News Dudes is tackling issues in a bold way. We are approaching the news differently and we’re calling things out like we see it whether it’s about race, immigration, the current administration or baby duck rights. We don’t want to be beholden to the established media giants in place. We want to tell the stories our way and truthfully without it being colorized through a corporate lens. We don’t want a network or studio to tell us what we can or can’t write about. Because we’re going to write about everything that matters.
More importantly, we want to get YOU involved. We’re writing about and animating about today’s issues and how it affects all of us.
The team behind The News Dudes are Hollywood veterans that have worked on award winning projects. We’ve made movies and shorts before but it’s hard to sell an animated series that doesn’t fit conventional criteria and is willing to go out on a limb with opinionated sketches on current world policies. It sucks asking for money but it sucks even more not getting this made.
Freedom of the Press is important. Calling things out when it’s good or bad is important. But it’s even more important to get people to actually watch and understand the news. The News Dude is the answer.
