A rebellious teenager becomes the first Indian lifeguard in the exclusive all-American beach town Pointe Bay while forming some unusual friendships! Come join the adventure and experience the filmmaking process along with a cast and crew of 40+ people with one goal: Make the best comedy TV show you've ever seen.
Overview:
The Pointe is unlike any show you've seen before – when Krish Shetty becomes the first Indian lifeguard in this conservative beach town, we meet The Pointe's all-too-familiar characters in situations that will keep you laughing and face-palming throughout. Krish wittily maneuvers through a bombardment of stereotypes, showing everyone who he really is, and even making a few friends in the process. Sort of. The series is perfect for the city-goer who remembers growing up in a small town, the small townie who wants a relatable escape, or the urbanite who likes to roll their eyes at folks who move to the city and still use phrases like "alternate lifestyle." Master of None meets Community meets Baywatch, The Pointe is a show that you won't want to miss – but we need YOUR help to make it happen!
What We Need:
In order to make the best possible show for all of you, we’re going to need some serious help! We have set a budget of $10,000. The funds raised in this campaign will go towards professional sound, lighting and camera equipment. As well as helping with some killer set design. As you will see below we have a rather large crew that is sure to work up an appetite. We would also like to cover some of our marketing and post production costs. Below we have listed a more detailed chart so you can see exactly where your contributions are going.
Why Contribute?
With all these others projects on Indiegogo you're probably asking yourself, WhatsThePointe? Great Question! Here at The Pointe we have a cast and crew of over 40 people who are all working for free to help make this project the best it can be. This is a huge budget cut but it is still not enough to bring our vision to life. Your support will not only help us take this project to the next level but it will also keep us motivated to bring you a show unlike any other. We know that taking on a project this size always comes with some risk. We believe that as a team we will be able to overcome the odds and deliver the goods. We have pushed to shoot this all on location, with as small a budget as possible. How will we deal with these challenges? Lot’s of planning! Making sure everyone is completely prepared before we even arrive on set and taking into consideration that not everything will go according to plan. We have already scheduled extra shooting days and have formed numerous backup plans to account for unforeseen circumstances. If you want easy, make a sandwich! We are taking this chance with the belief that true art comes from pushing the limits of your own creativity!
What’s in it for you?
As you can see, here at The Pointe we have developed a motto: The more the merrier! And we would love to bring you along for the ride! We have come up with a long list of Perks for you to enjoy! Can’t find a Perk that works for you? No problem! Feel free to email us at: ThePointeProduction@gmail.com with any questions or requests! We promise to do do our best to accommodate you. Even if you can’t contribute don’t worry, we still love you! Sharing this campaign with your friends on social media is a big help! Be sure to follow us for all the latest updates!
P.S. WE WILL HAVE OFFICIAL “THE POINTE” MERCH COMING SOON!
Our Team:
Vishnu Prasad (Krish Shetty) - Director/ Writer
My name is Vishnu Prasad and I’m an Indian-born writer and director from Stamford, Connecticut. I’ve lived in India, England and the US. Growing up in three different countries has it’s side effects. I don't see the world like everyone else and I have always felt like an outsider. Through these experiences, one of the things that i’ve learned was that even though on the outside many things are different, we are more alike than we realize. All of these adventures have helped me in creating deep and interesting characters and the worlds they live in. After graduating from Business school and landing a desk job, I soon realized what I truly wanted to do with my life. I quickly shifted my focus and started learning more about filmmaking. Although I have been writing and creating stories from the age of 8, I never thought I could make a living as a filmmaker. After honing my skills by working on several independent film projects, I wrote and directed my first short film with a $0 budget and minimal crew. Now it’s time to take the next step. After teaming up with my writing partner, Clay Morsey, we believe that we have created an interesting and humorous story that will resonate with anyone who’s ever felt like they’ve been on the outside, or on the inside for that matter.
Clay Morsey Jr. (Ryan Blake) - Director/ Writer
My name is Clay Morsey Jr. and I am a writer from Norwalk, Connecticut. I am a graduate of The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, where I studied Method acting, writing and directing. During my time at Strasberg I frequently wrote video shorts that were often selected to be produced during class. I have had a passion for writing since a young age and always look for ways to push the boundaries of what can be achieved. After working on an independent feature in New York City last summer, I decided to to create a production of my own. Vishnu and I currently have two projects that are in the works. Both revolve around a group of diverse individuals trying to survive when they are forced out of their comfort zones. As a writer, I have a habit of creating characters that are out of their element. As people I believe that we all at one point develop a routine and a comfort zone. It’s only when that routine and comfort disappears that we truly see ourselves for who we really are. Throughout my life I have had to constantly change and adapt to meet others’ expectations, something that has never been easy for me. Regardless, it has made for some interesting tales and has enabled me to insert a small piece of myself into each new work I create.
Gabrielle Greer (Sam Blake)
My name is Gabrielle Greer and I’m playing Sam. I'm an actress and theatre artist based in New York City. I hold an MFA from Columbia University's MFA Acting program. Recent theater credits include TheatreLab's production of Closer directed by Tom Martin, and Columbia Stages production of Blue Window directed by Ken Rus Schmoll. I also appeared in the New York Theatre Festival this July in Caught Dreaming. Recent film and commercial credits include t.v. pilot Gener's People directed by Ryan Casey, the short film The Run by Vebs Rao, and a New Balance commercial directed by Dave Bour. I enjoy the collaborative process, and love working on projects that combine my interests in theatre and social justice.
Justin Younts (Jason Crouse)
My name is Justin Younts. I play Jason, one of the leads in The Pointe. I'm extremely excited about the role. I've been with the production since the beginning. Jason is a role I can bring to life. He's the type of person you can hate and love at the same time. This is one of the reasons that I was drawn to him. As for myself, I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. I've been in New York City for four years. I studied at The Neighborhood Playhouse and The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. I've been in London and studied Perdekamp Emotional Method. Since being in NYC, I've worked in short films. I played Nick in Whiskey Soda, Sport in Holly's Not Home, Ray in Trustworthy, and Bruce in Sunset Psycho. As well as in theatre, I played Antonio in Twelfth Night, Victor in Dead End, and Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew. I am looking forward to working with the cast and crew on the Pointe.
Jessie Kane Gill (Zoey Scott)
Hi I’m Jessie. I'm a fun lil’ lady who grew up in Ohio and recently graduated from NYU Tisch. I’m an avid ukuleleist who is learning to play the autoharp and working on perfecting my banana bread recipe. I'm an actor and voiceover artist as well as a singer. Also, I wrote one song and it was not that great. I like small dogs, big pizzas, and medium sized cups of black coffee.
Delaney Harter (Charlotte Horne)
Hi, I’m DeLaney Harter and I’m thrilled to be one of the cast members of the Pointe. I’m a Chicago native and a graduate of New York University, Mannes College of Music, and Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts. I have appeared on Amazon Prime’s “Mozart in the Jungle” and “Law and Order SVU” as well as several commercials. Aside from being an actor, I’m also a classically-trained violinist and enjoy recording and concertizing in ensembles and as a soloist both in New York and around the world.
Chara Kirk (Tiffany Mulligan)
I’m Chara and I’m from Pennsylvania. I moved to NYC three years ago where I studied at The American Musical and Dramtic Academy (AMDA). I have been working as a actress singer and dancer primarily in Musical Theatre. My recent work include "Gypsy" at The Gallery Players and "La Cage Aux Folles" at The Axelrod PAC. I’m excited to have my first on screen debut with "The Pointe" and I’m looking forward to this brand new adventure.
Chris Cenatiempo (Austin Aldo)
I am thrilled to be playing the role of Austin in The Pointe. I was born and raised in CT, and have been performing locally for years. My favorite roles include, St. Jimmy from American Idiot and Moritiz from Spring Awakening. I studied Method Acting at Lee Strasberg Acting Institute and at Norwalk Community College under the direction of Heather Parady. When I’m not acting, I work for a nonprofit agency that promotes life skill training and character building for middle schoolers within the community. In my free time, I love anything music related from, going to live shows to crafting the perfect playlist. I also enjoy cooking, experimenting in the kitchen and can make pretty damn good tacos.
Jon Abrado (Derrick Wilson)
My name is Jon Abrado, an American actor, published model, & comedian, from Stamford, CT. I'm playing Derrick, one of the supporting roles of "The Pointe". Derrick is THE smoothest and coolest guy around, and I am very excited to help bring him to life. I have been involved in the arts primarily my entire life. From a young age, I found myself surrounded by anything that included being in front of an audience, whether it was school musicals, plays, dance acts, and talent shows. That all transpired later on in life, to what I am truly passionate about now, which is TV&Film. I am fascinated by the process of turning stories into live action realities for the audience. Most of my previous work consists of print advertisement, TV&Film background, and commercial work. ESPN, Sprint, Budlight, NFL, Macy's, and KMart are some of the biggest clients I have had just to name a few. Working with some of the production team in the past is going make this process that much more fun, and I can't wait to see how much trouble Derrick can keep Jason out of at The Point.
Steven Moskos (Garrett)
Steven Moskos rose to fame playing the character Ellis in the Off Broadway musical adaptation of Die Hard. His ballad Hans Bubby (I'm Your White Knight) went silver in Australia. Since then he's become an MFA Acting graduate from Columbia University. Now he embarks on a new mission (he, being me. I'm Steven Moskos... Was that not clear?). He--as in me--is to portray the role of Garrett, the alcoholic, failed magician, for the silver screen. Boy can he--as in me--make a beer disapbeer. Disappear! Forgive me, for I, as in Steven Moskos, am a method actor, and I have been preparing most of the night... and day. Who am i again?
Tony Republicano (Mr. Dumas)
Tony Republicano is thrilled to be back in front of the camera doing his first love, no, not his sexy The Pointe wife… comedy! His long and so called “career” has included: Plays and Musical Theatre - Sisters Rosensweig, Lend Me a Tenor, Annie, Film - The Adderall Diaries, Amazing Spiderman 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Television - The Last Laugh-a comedy pilot for Jimmy Fallon, W.W.E., O.I.T.N.B. and any other New York filmed show that has policemen, prison guards or mafia. Tony brags that he shared a cell on death row with Mike Tyson on Law and Order (sadly his big scene was cut) and that like most of his film and TV credits you can not blink during the show or you’ll miss him. When he’s not performing educational theatre, or playing patients for YALE Medical School he likes to instruct IMPROV comedy workshops. He loves working with the wildly funny cast of The Pointe, and says he doesn’t mind being one of the oldest characters on the show. "Afterall", says Tony, “they don’t call me Daddy for nothing!”
Justin Campbell- Producer
I'm Justin Campbell and I'm a producer based in Connecticut. In the last couple of years, I have been involved with producing different pictures including the feature Axis and the short film Dumplings. I have also been involved in the successful indiegogo project for Code 8 starring Stephen and Robbie Amell. I hope to bring my experience to the project and make it the next best show.
David White- Associate Director & Producer
I’m David White and I’m a self taught screenwriter and cinematographer with an emphasis on Film Directing. I began making short films at 16, and I currently make commercials and promo videos. I studied acting and motion picture editing at the University of Connecticut, where I made my thesis film “Waiting For Nick”. I focus on the complexities and hardships of the human society in my work. Wishing to spark healthy discussions, I often select film topics that have a high level of controversy or social activism. I look forward to working on this show and to collaborate with a fantastic cast and crew.
Paulina Simkin (Mrs. Dumas)- Producer/Casting Director
My name is Paulina Simkin and I'm an actress, producer and pianist originally from Europe. After getting my Master's in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School I decided to add an acting degree from The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and it was the best decision of my life. Ever since that I have been acting in feature films, TV shows, commercials, I produced a couple short films and sometimes I even get to play the piano in my projects. And like Mrs. Dumas, I also like to swing... Being part of The Pointe and making it succeed is a matter very close to my heart! I believe it is a unique and at the same time very relatable story that needs to be told. I love our team and would love for everyone to join our incredible journey.
Dani Hanks- Producer
I’m Dani Hanks and I’m a Director/Writer/Producer based in New York City. Since graduating from NYU Tisch Drama in 2015, I have written and directed a handful of short films, as well as music videos in American Sign Language. I have been involved in production on short-form projects, pilots, and indie films. WXAC(Albright College Radio). Dax not only specializes in electronic, but also produces and scores background music for film. He also has sponsorships with Next Hyype(music ap) and Night gear co, a rave jewelry company. On the electronic side of his project Dax performs with his duo Dax&Atragun. They went on to play such places as Hammerstein Ballroom, Jewel Yacht, Hudson Terrace, LIV, Story, Lavo, Troy Liquor Bar and Brooklyn Warehouse.
Elizabeth Viggiano - Set Designer/Photographer
My name is Elizabeth Viggiano and I'm the set designer and photographer for The Pointe. After receiving a BFA in Photography at MassArt in Boston, I started a photography business mostly revolving around weddings and fashion. I approached weddings with cinema in mind, focusing on various narratives that the guests created. To me, it felt like a movie production coming together that I had to make sense of visually.
At that, I always had a passion for staging scenes in my images. I grew up in an old Stamford, Connecticut home filled with antiques, art, and confusing design. There were things everywhere and most of my upbringing consisted of restaging rooms constantly to find "order" in it all. I like to think of this as the base that stemmed my photography journey. I can't wait for my "Pointe" of view to come across in this upcoming series!
