At a young age of 33, Sophia Khan tragically and unexpectedly lost her life as a result of complications arising during a routine medical procedure. She was a wife and mother to two beautiful children, a one-year-old and a three-year old. This foundation was established in efforts to honor Sophia Khan and what she represented-someone who cared deeply for others and was always willing to help those in need.

“If a human dies, then his good deeds stop except for three: a Sadaqa Jariah (continuous charity), a beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.” – Sahih Muslim

05/30/2013 UPDATE: Total funds received: Over $22 000 (including checks- exact amount will be posted soon)

Enoo Bhatti Water filtration (Arsenic Removal) Plant

Eno Bhatti is a small village in the outskirts of Lahore, Pakistan. It is situated at approximately a one and a half hour drive from Gulberg. The water in this village is contaminated with arsenic, therefore a filtration plant is desperately needed to clean it and make it fit for villagers to drink. $8540 of the funds raised will be going towards this project. As a result, 1578 people will continuously benefit from our efforts.  This project will take two months to complete once HDF receives the funds.

Muslimabad Water filtration Plant

Muslimabad is a small village in Karachi, Pakistan where a water filtration plant is also needed. $6869 of the funds raised will be allocated towards this project and 1755 residents of this village will have the benefit of clean water for many years to come insha’Allah.

We are currently researching the best opportunities for Sadaqa Jariya in countries other than Pakistan, and will post an update soon regarding the remaining funds.

We are still waiting for the funds to clear from indiegogo and all donors will be updated once the money has been transferred to HDF. Please keep checking this page for pictures and updates of the progress.
