This is Iniquity is a follow up to the award winning, BAFTA shortlisted and Vimeo Staff Picked film, This Is Vanity, which has currently clocked up 14 million views online.

Iniquity, is a drama about a young man who, ten years ago, became one of the most hated people in the country, for his part in the tragic deaths of a mother and her disabled daughter. Today, he's just about got his life back on track and been forgotten, when that story - and the hatred and venom that come with it - are bought back to the front pages of a local newspaper covering the tenth anniversary of their deaths. Threatening to destroy the fragile little life he's managed to rebuild.

The film explores the punishment a crime deserves when the law deems it undeserving of punishment in the first place. When is it ok to forgive or forget and whether there needs to be a certain level of responsibility acknowledged to allow those involved to move on.

FUNDING

We already have £21,500 - more than 60% - of the £35,000 we need.

But we've exhausted all of our piggy banks so we're hoping to convince you that this project and this team are worth backing. Raising the remainder of budget here on Indiegogo would mean everything to this project, allowing us to only make the usual compromises rather than cutting huge parts of the detailed and rich story.

TEAM

Casting Director - Des Hamilton - responsible for some of the UK’s most iconic work; Four Lions, This is England, Morvern Callar, Top Boy and recent Jojo Rabbit - will be casting the film.

Actor - Richard Crehan - since 'This is Vanity', has appeared in Sherlock, Monuments Men with George Clooney, and  Coronation Street as a lead character, Lee Mayhew.

Actor - Sam Seager - As well as also acting beautifully in 'This Is Vanity', Sam has appeared in a host of top British drama from Silent Witness to Casualty.

Director - Oliver Goodrum - has been developing various short and feature projects as well as directing commercials for the likes of RNLI, KFC and Wimbledon.

Writer - Alexander Craig -  has worked on a number of collaborative projects since 'This is Vanity' and is slated to co-write on an original comedy optioned to Channel 4 with Ian Martin (‘The Thick Of It’, ‘Veep’, ‘The Death of Stalin’).

Producer - Luke Goodrum -  Predominantly works in advertising producing films for major brands across the globe, including his latest production for Singapore Airlines, shot in China, New Zealand, India, Singapore & Spain.

BUDGET

The films £35,000 budget will be spent across seven days shooting, in several locations, with a crew of twelve, twenty incredible actors and in one scene 30-50 extras - all coming together and making sacrifices to pull off this hugely ambitious project.

BACKING & REWARDS

Indiegogo is a great opportunity for up-and-coming filmmakers and creative entrepreneurs to come together and back projects and set ourselves free from the traditional gatekeepers - just like Jeremy Saulnier with his crowd-funded and career-launching film 'Blue Ruin' (see his pitch here) and similarly Christopher Nolan with his first film, the self-financed micro-budget film 'The Following'.

We only want people donating what they can live without - the price of a coffee, a beer, a yoga class or dinner out, whether that's £10, £25 or £50 - crowd funding short films is about the many giving a little - rather than anyone giving a lot.

GOAL

As I said we already have a massive 60% of the budget and we're really confident we'll find the remainder of the budget here BUT If we don't reach the goal completely don't worry, we'll still be making this film but we'll just have to get a little creative with reimagining some of our scenes or the films subplots.

RISKS & CHALLENGES

This is a highly ambitious project but that isn't new for the team and we wouldn't have it any other way. As I said above we all have considerable experience in the industry, mostly in the highly pressured side of commercials, where a clients schedule can expose you up to huge challenges, which are always overcome. We have already put in a huge amount of time developing the script and setting up the film to date and we will continue to do this, every step of the way, and tell you all about it here.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP

We totally understand times are tough right now and if contributing just isn't possible but you like the project and want help than we still need you! Please tell others or spread the project online with Indiegogo's sharing tools - the more that hear about it the better!

THANKS + TEASER

We really appreciate you taking the time to consider our project and hope to share it all with you.
