Overview
From the bottom... on the rise to the top, Mr. James Boudreaux is set to become Memphis' first black owned brokerage firm owner. He is planning to build a life of black wealth with his best friend and business partner, Levan St. Bernard. But of course, if it's too good to be true, it probably is! James never understood the challenges that come with building a life on secrets and lies, until now. He knows what life is like in the streets but he never thought it would be worse in business. You see, in the streets, everybody gets their hands dirty. In business, you have to know how to do dirt but keep your hands clean. James is starting to realize that the most TOXIC people are those who disguise themselves as family and friends, or is it just THE MAN IN THE MIRROR? When dealing with devils, sometimes you have to become The Devil.
WRITER/DIRECTOR/PRODUCER
My name is Tymika Chambliss and I've been acting in community theater and film for over 10 years and writing for over 20 years. From short stories to theater productions, writing has been a consistent passion since the age of 10. In 2014 I began drafting the storyline and character breakdowns for TOXIC. After brainstorming, researching, and praying, I decided to take my script, build a cast, shoot the trailer and pilot, and find a way to bring it to homes across the globe. As you may know, those steps, although fun and rewarding, wasn't free. I funded the entire project, thus far, out of pocket, and now I need your help to complete it. (continue below)

This project separates itself from others in its attention to detail. The truth is in the details. We have award winning theater actors, award winning filmmaker, award winning director, and more. Having made these connections, our story line leads us forward and we have the foundation in place to take this pilot into the television market.
In supporting this series, you are supporting WORKING MOTHERS, WOMEN, AND MEN who are keeping their families together, while creating quality entertainment for the world.
Given the talent and dedication to this project, we want everyone to get paid for the work they put in. As a struggling actor, I have participated in MANY projects where I was simply given a slice of pizza and credit and spent my own money on other expenses. I do not want TOXIC to be that kind of project! Our actors are professional and should be PAID for their commitment and the work they put into every passing moment in front of the camera. We want the end product to be QUALITY.
We are making something big and we are not looking back.
So... why this project?
TOXIC is a story of hard work, dedication, and redemption. However, we are changing the narrative of the typical story of a black man in America.
James Boudreaux is...
- A black man who grew up in the hood
- A black man whose father abandoned him
- A black man who found family in gang life
- A black man who went to jail
- A black man who decided to turn his life around
- A black man who went to college and graduated
- A black man who had everything against him and HE MADE IT!
TOXIC follows the life of James Boudreaux; a dreamer, fighter, father, and entrepreneur. He is determined to create black wealth and teach others along the way. Yes, he will encounter struggles, unbearable hurt, heartache, heartbreak, chaos, and scandals along the way but he is a fighter and his fight began the moment he inhaled his first breathe on this earth and the fight won't end until his dream of being the first black brokerage firm owner, in Memphis, TN is accomplished.
One of the underline themes of TOXIC is spirituality and the importance of connecting to a higher power. We wanted to be cautious in not promoting religion because religion tends to be the thread that blinds the characters but abandons the audience. No matter where a person's life takes them, they can always find guidance and solitude by being connected.
Too many times, the media has not given Black Men and Women the opportunity to create their own narrative to their own story. BlackBox Productions, minority owned and operated, found it necessary to give a voice to our stories and truth to our lives.
