Tucson Refugee Ministry
"Welcome the Stranger"

Nearly one thousand refugees arrive in Tucson each year. Tucson Refugee Ministry (TRM) is a faith-based program under the 501(c)3 organization, Community Renewal. Established in 2006, TRM partners with resettlement agencies in Tucson and facilitates connections between caring people and UN sponsored refugees.

In 2013 many refugees were welcomed:

  • 5 refugee families were embraced by church groups
  • 4 welcome baskets were delivered to refugee families
  • 13 refugee women received baby showers from women's groups
  • 41 kids attended International Kids Kamp
  • Many refugee neighborhoods were "adopted" and befriended
Who did we welcome this year in Tucson?
199 people from Somalia
163 people from Iraq
115 people from Congo
86 people from Sudan
70 people from Bhutan
There were at total of 3,600 arrivals welcomed to Arizona in 2013.

Here's some superheroes who have shared their lives and their hearts with refugees:

The US may accept as many as 70,000 refugees each year.
Less than half of these refugees have an American friend or volunteer.
Most churches don't know the name of a single refugee in their city.
That's why TRM exists... as a catalyst to connect two worlds.

With your donation, TRM can continue to connect people in 2014.

$20,000 will support the staff, training and "get the word out" materials for an entire year. Tucson Refugee Ministry relies on the donations of individuals.  To learn more: www.tucsonrefugeeministry.com

Your tax-deductible donation also supports local refugee entrepreneurs.

Your donation will have ripple effects. In partnership with Iskashitaa, Tucson Refugee Ministry will send you a hand-made gift created by a refugee living in Tucson. This is our token of thanks for your generosity.

Tucson Refugee Ministry is a subordinate organization in the group exemption of Community Renewal, Inc.  As such, it is recognized as an organization exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and is eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.  Your contribution will appear on your bank statement as 'DONATION-COMMUNITYRENEWALINC'.
