Uncanny Valley is a survival horror game that includes a
mix of exploring, discovering the story, solving puzzles and a bit of action.
We're trying to preserve the old survival horror kind of gameplay instead of
following the modern trend of creating a third person shooter with horror
elements.

You play as a security guard named Tom at a remote
facility. He's in charge of the night shift, while his lazy partner Buck is in
charge of the day shift. Nights are long, so Tom starts exploring the facility
and finds things he shouldn't. The story plays a huge part in the game, so
saying anything more would be a major spoiler.

Uncanny Valley's main difference from other games is a
thing we like to call the consequence system. Whenever you fail at something,
the game goes on, but with harsh consequences for your character that can
impact both the story and the gameplay.
For example - you fail at avoiding your attackers,
meaning your character will move slower throughout the game, making it harder
to escape future pursuers, so the player needs to be careful and more clever,
which adds more tension to the game. Of course, there are a couple of sections
where you can die, but we're trying to avoid that as much as possible.
Why? Because dying and repeating the same section over and over is tedious and
leads to frustration. The game stops being scary if you're angry and just want
to rush through it, so we think that adding such a system will still keep the
tension while adding a new layer to scariness.

Making a game can be expensive for a couple of college
students. We already invested some money for licenses, and we'd like to repay
our debt and spend the rest of the money for further license purchases, Steam
Greenlight and marketing purposes so we can showcase the game on expos and
conventions.
We decided to go with the Flexible Funding, because even
something can help us repay the licenses, at least for monthly subscription to
Photoshop or buying the Greenlight license. That also means if we don't get
funded, we will continue working on the game but the progress will be slower. So keep in mind -
contribute anything you can, even if it's one euro. If you can't contribute,
please share this page with your friends.

If
we get more funds that we ask for, we will make the game
available for more platforms, for example Linux and mobile platforms Android
and iOS. We will also improve the quality of our animation and overall make a
more polished, prettier game. If we get a lot more, we won't prolong the game, because the story is perfect as it is - but, we will release a set of free DLC mini-stories, completely unrelated to this game, where you play as a new protagonist.
