Short Summary

 My name is Cory Goodrich, a Chicago actress and singer songwriter, and I need your help to make a CD of original, Broadway and cover songs, called W.O.M.A.N. I am collaborating with musical genius Malcolm Ruhl to make a truly memorable recording. This CD will also be the launching pad for GoBeautiful.net, a website devoted to helping boost self esteem and positive body image for women and girls.

The CD will include songs like I've Been Everywhere  (Ring of Fire), No One is Alone (Into the Woods), W.O.M.A.N., It Ain't the Meat, It's the Motion, (Come on...you know you are intrigued by that title) as well as 2 Malcolm Ruhl originals and 6 of my own original songs, including a very special song written for my friend, Bernie Yvon. This is a collection of songs about surviving, about the many aspects of being a woman, from motherhood, to love and lost love. 

What We Need & What You Get

In addition to the $$ I've saved to start this project, I need an additional $7500 (actually a bit more) to make the make the actual CD. WHAT!? Can't you just record it in your living room with some friends, you may ask. Nope. And here's why:

We need money for:

•Big Fancy Studio time to record without my dog barking in the background.

• Musicians....good ones.I mean really amazing musicians. They sort of deserve to be paid.

• The making of the physical CD itself. With a case and photography and a bar code. So much more professional than the ones I burn on my computer, although I know you'll miss my fancy Sharpie art.

•Miscellaneous things like having the songs arranged, artwork, royalty fees and photography (and believe me, you don't want to miss the Wonder Woman photo shoot I'm planning.)

Listen, I'm a girl who likes to get something for her donations, so in addition to my eternal love and thanks, you can get things like:  a digital download of the CD, an actual signed CD, tickets to Ring of Fire at the Mercury Theater, a limited edition Woman Word Cloud poster, coffee with yours truly at Julius Meinl, and a very special song, recorded just for YOU!

We only have 30 days to raise these funds. 30 days!!! If we don't reach the goal, I'll lose a big chunk o' change, so please donate what you can and spread the word!

The Impact

You'll also be a part of building GoBeautiful.net. As the mother of two girls, I know the importance of modeling good body image and self esteem. Girls need to understand that they are so much more than what we see on the outside. And you know what? Women of all ages need it too, along with the boys and men with whom we share our lives. 

My goal is to create a site that will promote local artists who share positive messages. I will create visual and musical reminders to be who you are. To create. To embrace exactly who you are in this moment.

Music moves us, inspires us, stirs up emotions and feelings we never even knew we had. I want you all to know how valuable you are in this moment. And music, is the best way for me to say this. To me, this is about more than just making a CD. It's about reaching out and sharing, and hoping that someone who hears it will be inspired to do the same.

Risks & Challenges

As you may know, the music industry is changing. People don't buy CDs the way they used to. More and more music is digital and more and more, people want to get their music for free. But it still costs money for the artists to create it.

That's why I'm asking you to pre-order W.O.M.A.N.. Help me to create this, so I don't have to promote like crazy just to earn back the production costs. I'd like to be able to focus instead on getting the message out, and work for the goal, rather than just scrambling to not break the bank.

 I know you'll enjoy this CD, and I know you'll appreciate the message I'm sending out in the world.
