Water's Edge
The story of "Water’s Edge" is a psychologically driven suspense/thriller where an electrician haunted by his fear of the water is forced to fix the wiring around a rundown indoor pool. He must eventually face his fear and suffer the consequences or others will suffer in his stead.
Since it is a psychologically driven piece, it will involve a large amount of creative work from its crew. To balance all of the great talent that has been assembled behind the camera, we need funding for props, wardrobe, and set pieces to play out the dramatic story of “Water’s Edge” in front of the camera.
This film has just recently moved out of development and into pre-production. It is an original short film by Michael Stanton who is a student at Compass College of Cinematic Arts in Grand Rapids, MI. The film is a collaborative student project that has the students implementing everything they have learned at the school in a real film shoot.
"Water’s Edge" will be the first professional film shoot this year’s students at Compass will attempt. The script has gone through numerous revisions under the guidance of industry professionals, and auditions will be underway in less than a week. The film is moving forward at such a fantastic pace that we need a small amount of funding in order to move the production to the next phase.
What We Need & What You Get
Most of the funding for “Water’s Edge” will be used for the tangible materials that will appear in the film: this includes the props, wardrobe, and set dressing. It will also be used to purchase all of the batteries, tape, and people fuel (food) for the shoot. These elements are the lifeblood of any film shoot no matter what size the production is. If we can get any amount of funding, it will boost the overall quality of the film.
The final cut of the film will likely be distributed over Vimeo and other media streaming sites, so you as a donor will get to see the film almost immediately after its completion, which will be before the end of this December!
“Water’s Edge” will be an exciting and dramatic short film, and only requires a minimal budget to tidy up the loose ends of pre production. We are excited to be able to offer a few rewards for such a small production, so please take the time to review those. We look forward to seeing you at the premier!
The Impact
With your contribution, no matter what size, we will be able to stay on track with our deadlines and produce a high quality short film worthy of all of the hard work already being poured into it.

Other Ways You Can Help
Some other ways people can help is with food. Craft services on set is our single largest budgetary item. If you live in the area of Grand Rapids, MI and are willing to donate any food that can be used to feed our cast and crew, then you will be getting us that much closer to finalizing our fundraising.
Another expense that is hindering us is underwater equipment. If you have any sort of underwater light sources or filming equipment and are willing to let us borrow it, then that too will bring us closer to our final goal.
If you are interested in helping in any way other than monetary gifts, then feel free to contact the me (the producer) at michael.stanton@compass.edu
