Short Summary
One of my dear brothers lost both of his legs on May 8th after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan. Our friends and family have been so generous with their encouragement and love and have really helped us through this difficult time.
Colton is now at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland, and through generous non-profits and the military we will all be able to fly out there and see him. A lot of our expenses will be covered, but I'm sure that there will be other expenses (ground transportation, food. making the house more accessible for Colton) that my parents may need to pay. He could be there for a long time, at one point I heard 6 months to 1 year. Little expenses can really add up for such a long time. I would hate for this already upsetting event to break the bank financially for my parents, so I set up this campaign as an easy way for those of you who wish to help out to do so.
I entered a goal of $2,000 just to fill in the space. Any little bit helps, you can give $5 to $500, there's no minimum or cap. I know many of our friends and family have already sent support to my parents. Thank you all so much.
Colton's inspiring attitude also makes it more bearable for his family and friends. He told our mom over the phone that he accepts the accident, that he does not regret what happened and he wants to move on with his life. Within the moments after the accident happened he decided that he was going to make this easy for those of us who love him, and not be bitter. I am so proud of my brother.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't contribute, there are many ways to help out. Please contiinue to keep Colton and his journey in your thoughts or prayers. I will find out soon his address to send cards to. Knowing that you all are thinking, praying and loving him and my family has meant so much comfort and peace of mind to us all, and we thank you.
If you would like to share this campaign on facebook feel free to do so.
Love and Thank You,
Adriana
