Created by actor, writer, historian and combat director, Mark Hindman-Smith, Whiteblade tells the story of the rise to power of Oswald Iding, heir to the Northumbrian throne. This proof of concept film will not only be a short in it's own right, submitted for various international festivals, but will be used in order to pitch for a large budget in order to make a feature film with a world-wide distribution deal. Ambitious? Yes. But then so is shooting the largest scale battle scenes ever filmed in the UK on a budget short and we are doing exactly that! With your help...
- In order to shoot in our amazing locations in the north of England, train enough combatants and make location shooting sanitary and safe, we need a budget. We are keeping costs down to a minimum, but things like insurance for a shoot where 400 people are waving weapons at each other doesn't come cheap. Due to the remoteness of locations, things like portaloos have to be hired. Logistics, props, and sfx on an action fantasy film will also cost money and we aim to make this as spectacular as possible. Our target is very modest, considering the scale of the production, but we are out to prove what we can do on a very low budget.
- You can get involved and help with as little or as much as you can afford. From a twitter shout out to full executive producer status, from a costume used in the film to a beautiful replica of the Whiteblade sword itself, or from a Whiteblade mug to an exclusive Whiteblade jacket (normally reserved for cast & crew), there are incentives for every pocket and taste.
- If our target is not reached, it's not the end of the road! Our planned filming dates at the end of September are set to go ahead regardless, but achieving our financial goal will ensure the production is as spectacular as we can make it and give us a better chance of making our final goal of a trilogy of feature films, or a TV series.
- If you are unable to contribute financially, you can still help! In in order to film our massive climactic battle scene, we need battle crew. You can volunteer to be part of the battle crew and take part in our day boot-camp training session, followed by three day shoot in County Durham.
