Women of the Mississippi Delta
Hi!
My name is Jess Bollaert. I have the opportunity to participate in the Barefoot Workshop's Mississippi Delta Intensive, Photographing the Delta. This is an opportunity for me to focus on child-bearing women in my home state of Mississippi. As a mother of two, this subject is dear to heart - my sweet 5 month old son, Gus, will actually be traveling with me to Clarksdale as I focus on the women of the Mississippi Delta.
My history is as a modern dancer, a theatre technician and lighting designer. Most recently, motherhood has led me to doula work. Doulas assist women during the birth year to prepare for childbirth, using comfort measures during labor and providing support during the postpartum time. My love of art, storytelling and the human form combines with my passion for women's health to fuel my excitement for this project.
But I need your help!
Barefoot Workshops has generously provided me with a grant to cover some of the cost of the workshop. I am hoping to raise at least $1250.00 to cover the following:
$649.50 will cover the rest of the cost of the workshop
$590.00 will cover lodging for the week, before taxes
We are hoping to raise a little bit more to cover transportation costs, equipment, meals, fundraising costs and other expenses.

They have a history of success and I am so excited to learn from their experience and contribute my own enthusiasm and perspective.
