Where are the funds going?
Printing & Distributing! The book is complete, all that’s left to do is send it over to the printer. However, this requires a relatively large one-time payment so that’s where this campaign comes in.
-$1000 is roughly the cost it will take to print 100 hard-cover books
-$300-$400 is for shipping costs
-And the rest is for the combined smaller fees such as an ISBN no. for the book, fulfilling perks, IndieGoGo’s platform fee, market place fees for listing the book and selling through sites like Amazon and Storenvy… etc.
Risks & Challenges
This would be my first time getting a book made! Everything is new to me and I’m still learning a lot about the process. I’ve already faced many obstacles just to get this campaign up and running, and I’m sure there will be more along the way. But this is something I really want to do, so I’m going to give it my all and find ways to overcome any challenges that will be thrown my way. I will also be sure to be as transparent as I can during the process, providing updates to backers on how the process is going during and after the campaign is over. So be sure to check the comments and update tabs if you wanna know what’s up!
-This campaign is funded on a fixed basis, meaning if the goal isn’t reached by the campaign deadline then IndieGoGo will automatically refund any money raised back to doners. So, if in the unfortunate case this campaign doesn’t reach its goal, there is no risk to people who have already backed the project.
Other Ways You Can Help
Let’s face it, sometimes people just simply can’t donate, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make a difference!
A huge way anyone can help out this project is by spreading the word. Tell your friends, your family, that guy who always beats you in line for your morning coffee, you get it. Sharing this page with people who may be interested in supporting would help me out big time.
At the top of the page there are share buttons that you can use to easily send this project around!
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read and consider this project. You are beautiful <3
About the creator - Zaccura
I’m some gal who started doodling one day 4 ½ years ago out of boredom and hasn’t been able to stop since (I still suspect my pencil must have possessed me… I am notorious for losing pencils so the fact I’ve been using the same one for over four years is HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS O,o).
Like anyone who tries to draw “seriously” for the first time, I uh… well… *cough*… was not very good at first. Like… VERY not very good. You might even say “bad”. BUT! I think that was one of the reasons I became obsessed to get better. I’m the kind’a person that if you give me something to do that I’m not great at, I simply MUST keep doing it until I’m at least decent. You know, the stubborn type.
And so began my journey to not be very-not-very-good at drawing. (Let that sentence bake your noodle for a while).
Soon after starting my art quest, I also started writing. My first works were fan stories based off of pre-existing shows and worlds. Yeah, VERY cringy. But that caused the writer’s bug to bite me; there was something incredibly fulfilling about creating characters, figuring out their lives, and fitting them into a world. And when drawing could be combined into this creation, and suddenly characters could have faces and expressions (and of course swaggin’ outfits), it was like discovering -- as cheesy at it sounds-- magic.
An illustrator/writer has the ability, on their own, to create life that never existed before, make worlds and situations that are seemingly impossible, possible. They can make people cry, laugh, THINK, all with nothing more than a wave of their pencil and pen. If that isn’t the closest thing to magic in the world then I don’t know what is.
Writing and drawing quickly became more than something I was stubbornly trying to get better at “just cuz”. It became my passion, and from it bred dreams.
“Just cuz” will only get ya so far when it comes to improving, but dreams will whip your work ethic into shape like nothing else (well maybe necessity triumphs in that department, but still). If you’re gonna achieve a dream then you gotta put in the grind work of improving your craft, something I’ve been working on ever since I picked up my pencil in 2014.
Long story short: Me like drawing. Me like writing. Me love put two together. And me hope you like.
(Ya’ll better not quote that XD )
