1,678 Miles for Hunger

Hi friends! I'm co-founder of The Pack Shack. We're working to help fight hunger, starting right here in northwest Arkansas. For several years I worked in global hunger and nutrition with big international organizations including UNICEF and the World Food Program, and my family even moved to Rwanda to start a factory to produce therapeutic food to treat kids with severe acute malnutrition. This is my buddy Dominique.

Food insecurity (hunger) in Arkansas is among the worst in the US. So, The Pack Shack is working to provide HEALTHY MEALS and GOOD JOBS to people in need. The funds raised from this campaign will help us do this. In fact, $1 = 4 healthy meals!

That's why I'm riding 1,678 miles ... to raise awareness AND funds so that we can help people with their immediate and longer-term needs. The funds will go toward the NWA vs HUNGER event coming up in March 2014.

What We Need & What You Get

We hope to raise at least $10,000 through the Rogers2Malibu ride. I'm taking responsibility to raise $1,678 through this campaign. (Feel free to set up your own campaign to help too!)

  • If you donate $25, we'll send a lovely Pack Shack sticker.
  • If you donate $100, we'll send the lovely sticker AND a rockin' Rogers2Malibu t-shirt designed by our good friend Matt West at Groove180. He's also riding in the event.

  • If you donate $250, we'll send the sticker, tshirt, and Howard Buffet's new book, 40 Chances.

The Impact

Food is ... well, basic. Providing food is one thing, but we're going two steps further. The first step is nutritious food. The meals we pack meet the strict nutrition standards established by the World Health Organization. So people who eat these delicious meals get important protein and 21 essential vitamins and minerals. The second step is jobs. We're working to provide good jobs for people so that they are able to support their own families with their hard earned and well deserved money.

The Pack Shack's mission sums it up like this: Supplying provisions and opportunities for our neighbors in need.

Other Ways You Can Help
