10,000 Pushups, 10 days - Clean water for thousands of children
Hey guys, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is
Tyson Mayr.
For the past 4 years I have been full time travelling around
the world, volunteering every chance I can & also carrying & installing
water filters to schools in need, for an amazing non-profit charity organisation, RainCatcher.
On December 3rd I left for Uganda with 100 water filters, to meet with RainCatcher to help bring clean water to thousands of little children.
While I was there I decided to do 10,000 pushups in 10 days to help raise more money & awareness. on my next mission to
Uganda to help regions that are in desperate need of clean water.
The video above was made by a Primary School in a small town of Wyoming who was so inspired, they wanted to join in on the cause! I want to thank everyone for sending in your pushup videos from around the world joining in, the link below is HUGH JACKMAN helping join the cause!

For the rest of this campaign I am going to continue meeting with schools & doing my pushups to raise money for clean water & I want to thank everyone who has become involved :) While $100 is enough to provide an entire village with Clean Water & $50 will provide a school or orphanage a RainCatcher water filter, which will provide clean water for years to come, just $10 alone is making a huge difference & saving lives!
Follow up video coming - please keep sharing, commenting & sending in the pushups videos - together we can really make a lasting difference :)
“According to the World Health Organization, 1.1 billion people lack access to clean water. More than 4,500 people a day or 1.6 million people die every year from diseases attributed to contaminated drinking water, 90% of these people are under the age of 5”
That means by the time you have read to here, another child right now, under the age of 5 has died, simply from not having access to clean drinking water. Something i'v never had to think about, especially as a child...
RainCatcher is a non-profit organisation dedicated to healing communities by providing clean water for children in the developing world using affordable and sustainable solutions.
When I first discovered RainCatcher I was in awe at all of the progress they had made, helping literally hundreds of schools & projects around the world through the installation of water filters & water harvesting systems - with big plans on helping more.
I quickly became an ambassador & from that day forward would always carry water filters in my bag that I could quickly & easily install into any schools or villages affected by contaminated water that I might come across during my travels.
WHY PUSHUPS
I like to create fund raising challenges that are not only engaging, but challenging to myself. I believe raising money for charity, even if it might be a sad situation, can be done in a fun way that can further promote the cause, spread awareness & help get others involved.
How This Fundraiser Will Help
It will literally be saving lives. We are passing thousands of children every single day who are drinking contaminated water & within minutes we can install a life saving filter that will provide clean water for years to come.
I remember I was helping build a school in Guatemala earlier this year. It was 2 hrs away from the closest city in a remote village with several hundred children living there. I ran out of bottled water & followed two small girls from the school to where the local water supply was. The stream they took me to was a major reality check. When I saw the colour, insects & pollution of that water, I didn't want to go near it let alone drink it. Yet here were to young children filling up a bucket just meters away from 2 pigs using the same water supply as there toilet.
In this situation I was able to pull a water filter from my bag, find an old bucket & within a few minutes, provide a solution that allowed there whole village filtered water for years to come. It cost me $50.
Now imagine what it would be like to walk for miles at a time to find a similar supply.
If I can raise $10,000 it means, through the help of RainCatcher, I am going to be able to install 200 water filters to schools, villages & orphanages who desperately need clean water. That is over 100,000 children with clean water. 100,000 children who do not need to drink muddy water anymore & worry about being sick or seeing there little brother or sister die.
Please take a quick look at the perks I have listed for donations & please remember - while a $100 donation is enough to provide a full village with clean drinking water for years - Just $10 alone is helping save lives!!
Please Tweet or Facebook me if you do donate so I can organise a thank you letter or new PenPal from the children you are helping & please do not hesitate to contact me on the links below for any additional questions!
Join me on this mission as I share everything from start to finish & don't forget to like & share this campaign!
Thanking you all from the bottom of my heart in advance :)
Together we can make a difference!
