What is this all about?
I AM...
I am a student from Latvia. My name is Eduard but in english it would be better to write Edward! =) I am 20 and I graduated from technical college this year. I am planning to continue getting higher education at Technical University of Riga. I won't be able to get a regular job because my faculty of medical engineering and physics has only day studies. So I was thinking about things I am passionate about and things I would be able to do while studying. And here is my idea!
3D PRINT ONLINE
I wanted to start something I had never experienced before, but something I will be interested in. 3D printing jumped into my head! =) The idea is to let people print their own designs or other artist designs and watch it ONLINE. I think it adds trust between ordering customer and service provider and of course it would be interesting especially to people who had never saw 3D printing before. 3D printing order service and community are not common in my country, but the idea is not only to spread it locally. I never thought I was the first to bring the idea of 3D printing community and after I googled for it it was obvious. But I never saw something like online 3D printing before. 3D printing your own designs or designs of other artists for free or not. It will depend on artists' preferences. Of course there will be forum to develop community. And of course printed designs will be delivered to their creators or fans. =)
GOALS TO ACHIEVE or
Of course I am another student who wants to make some extra money on this small business and spend them on things I need. But my goals are much more important than just electronic toys, clothes or beats by ... with all the respect =) I won't make it much more personal than it is now. =)
And the second thing is fun, communication and sharing! It is always great to have such communities where you can share and discuss ideas of things you are interested in!!!
Expenses
I will make it short:
-
Ultimaker 2 - $2580
-
Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 - 3 X $135 = $405
-
Website - $500-1000
-
One year hosting - $150
-
Simple vehicle for local delivery service - $1000
- Materials for printing - $1000
So let me explain some things you can see here. Why Ultimaker 2? Simply because it has a good price for resolution up to 20 microns. $500-1000 for website I think it's a fair price for a good website. I have no coding skills myself except CSS and HTML and there will be no time for me to learn web programming. And another thing is printing materials. I want to have materials in reserves and use them for perks. Of course there will be perks in the form of printed designs. And I am more than sure that there are going to be unplanned expenses. This is why you can see $1000 for materials, so that odd money will help me to manage these unplanned expenses. Well another strange thing is vehicle. Yes I am actually planning to find simple car for this price. It would be easier for me and easier for ones who placed an order. But I can't say that I am not feeling awkward! =D
IF CAMPAIGN WILL FAIL
In case of campaign failure I will try to create another idea I will be able to realise with available funds. You know how they say: "NEVER GIVE UP!" =)
Fun, Communication and Sharing
I want to make something that my country had never experienced before in case of 3D printing. As I said before my goal is not only spread it locally, but make it able for unexperienced people to get exprience from other country designers and artists. International experience sounds fantastic to my ears and makes me more inspired! =} I want people to share their ideas and make them come true with 3D printing service. I would like to make a big and interesting project out of it. Of course at first there will be only one printer available, but with time I want to get extra printers so that in case of big interest in this project there would be no queues for printing.
Risks & Challenges
There are risks in all sort of ideas and especially in making business out of them. This project won't start in a day or a month. I think I will need at least 3-4 months to make it work. In my country it is a bit complicated to make online business, to make it legal in all ways. But of course I will do everything I can to achieve my goals.
And of course at first I really want to achieve full funding on this project. It is the main challange =)
Please Share This Everywhere YOU Can
As I said, 3D printing is not common in my country so I won't make it with only local public.
Share this campaign everywhere you can!
I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!
Yours sincerely,
Edward. =)
