499 is a 64-page color graphic novel set in an alternate history where the US fought a ground war with Russia that lasted for DECADES.

At West Hill High, a group of of seniors are trying to make it through their final year of high school before they are drafted and sent off to war.

"Sometimes I just feel like doing 499" is spray-painted on the scoreboard of the football field. This single act of rebellion pushes the older generation into a rage. 

A hunt for the dissident is conducted by the battle-scarred combat veterans who act as the faculty of the school.

Paul Devore is the former quarterback of the football team. After accepting a challenge to duel from Vaughn, a romantic rival, Paul has to back out of the duel when he mysteriously injures his hand. The whole school thinks that Paul is a coward who is faking an injury...but the truth is much WORSE.

Doug, Paul's only remaining friend, introduces him to the 499 Club, a group of dissident artists.

Missy, Paul's ex-girlfriend is a member of the 499 Club. It's complicated.

Pressure builds for someone to identify the traitor...and Paul realizes that betraying the members of the 499 Club may be his ticket back to his former glory.
