Access to clean, safe and affordable water
Today, over 60% of Nairobi's population live in informal settlements scattered around the city, the largest of these Kibera is home to around 250,000 people. Kiberia has the unenviable title of being the largest slum in Africa and is arguably one of the largest in the world.
I am raising money with the aim of building and maintaining 20 water service centres in the Sarang'ombe ward of Kibera as part of the #Majimtaani initiative for which I am currently an ambassador. Once completed these will provide 20,000 residents with access to clean and safe drinking water as well as safe and secure sanitary facilities.
Residents of Sarang'ombe ward currently pay 10 shillings for 20 litres of water, once completed residents will be able to purchase 20 litres for 50 cents from the water service centres, meaning families will now be able to meet all their water needs for a 1000 shillings a year.
The first center has been completed and will be up and running by the end of February 2016.
Help us make 1000sh count and donate to completing the remaining 19 centers.
