Adaptive Grand Slam
"Through our endeavours we can demonstrate that one can still achieve great things. If one has support, drive and determination, a debilitating injury should not stop you from reaching your goals"
Martin Hewitt, Team Leader and AGS Organiser.
My name is Adam Wyles and I am one of a very fortunate selected few to have had the honour to be invited to join Martin Hewitt, Terry Byrne and the team to join and assist the mission to be the first disabled team in history to complete the notorious adventurers 'Adaptive Grand Slam' whilst simultaneously breaking 4 World Record's in the process.
The Adventurers Grand Slam is regarded as the height of expedition achievement amongst mountaineers and expedition leaders alike, it is a grueling challenge that can take it's toll both physically and mentally on those who attempt it, which is probably why so very few have managed to achieve this tremendous feat.
The challenge itself is to summit the highest peak on all 7 continents as well as reach both the North and South Poles respectively on foot and unsupported, only 7 people in known history have achieved this.
The team I am joining are all ex-servicemen (British & American) living with disabilities after being wounded in combat whilst serving their respective nations on operational tours of duty, my good friend Terry Byrne after being injured in Afghanistan and losing his lower right leg went on to inspire myself and many others by becoming a member of the British Paralympic cycling team and broke several World Records whilst a member of the team, he now joins the Adaptive Grand Slam team in a new challenge where these remarkable individuals are going to set new World Records as mentioned above.
The team have already achieved reaching the North Pole on foot and you are probably already aware of this as it was televised on the show 'Harry's Arctic Heroes', in addition to this they have already reached the summit of Mt.Kilimanjaro, Mt. McKinley, Mt. Elbrus and Mt. Blanc, the team are well and truly on their way to this record and the next challenge is Mt. Aconcagua (Argentina, highest mountain in South America and and 2nd highest feature on the Grand Slam list only to Everest itself).
This is where I need your help, as the newest member of the team I need sponsors to help raise the funds for these extraordinary men to complete this goal, I intend to do this just one step at a time and what I am asking for is donations of any size to help contribute towards this World Record feat. The next step is Aconcagua commencing on the 20th November 2015 and my goal is to raise the $10,000 that is required to get the team to this summit, so please if you can, make a donation with whatever you have that is spare and be part of funding a worlds first in a disabled team completing this grueling and notorious challenge which will not only be breaking World Records but will give inspiration to people the world over.
Please Donate.
Thank you so much for your help.
