Who are we?

Polenar Tactical is based in
Slovenia, Europe and we are one of the biggest creators of firearm related content in this region.
As we often jokingly say that we were born on the wrong continent. From the beginning of our journey to where we are now, we were always faced with many obstacles and challenges, from obvious legal limitations to people accusing us of being dangerous and irresponsible. Despite all of this we managed to come to where we are because of our passion for the sport, hard work and especially the support from our loyal fans.
With Slovenia being a part of former Yugoslavia, our country and our people have a long history with the AK rifle, with some of the more quality variants coming from Zastava Arms.
The man behind the AK Operator Instructional DVD is Žiga Polajnar.
His father, a veteran of the Slovenian independence war, has introduced him to the AK at a very young age and Žiga has been honing his skills with the rifle ever since.
A student of Defence Studies at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, Žiga has has dedicated most of his life to the AK platform and the tactical community.
Filming and Editing work is done by Jan Kok. A law student, he has been in the entertainment industry for the last ten years, focusing on acting, filming and directing for the last three. Being responsible for the cinematography you see in Polenar Tactical's videos, he will also be responsible for bringing that known style of videography and editing to AK Operator.
Managing the various aspects of our production process is Samo Stergel. With a background in economics and broadcast television, Samo is very well suited to managing the team and the production process, making sure funding, equipment and locations are ready to go.
The lovely Manca P. Vrhovnik is also a Defence Studies student, currently finishing up her degree. Manca is a passionate shooter and will bring a well needed woman's touch to our DVD.

Q: Why IndieGoGo?
We want to make this project happen but more than that, we want to do it right.
That is why we have turned to you. We know that we are nothing without our awesome community and that is why we want to completely involve you in the whole production process.
All the renevue we generate from YouTube, Full30 and Patreon goes strictly back in to sustaining our YouTube channel. There is little time and money left for any sort of big investments like this DVD would be.
This is more then just about this DVD. We respect the responsabillity of being one f the groups that represent the gun community, not just in Europe, but in the whole world.
We want to further that image here in Europe, which is really restrictive to private gun ownership. We belive that each person has a right and a duty to protect themselves, their families and their community from anyone who wishes to harm them.
That is why we need your help - we can't do that with the limitations that our filming equipment and resources that we have right now pose to us.
Q: Where does my cash go?
Video Equipment:
The Canon 7D that we have as our main workhorse is, though we still love it, not up to the challenge of delivering the image quality that we want our Instructional Video to have. That means a new camera and with it, a new set of lenses.
Here is what we are planning to upgrade to with your help.
(In Slovenia, the prices are similar to the dollar amounts, so if something costs 1000$ in the US, it costs just about 1000€ here, maybe even slightly more)
Basic Filming Equipment
(Detailed link here: http://bit.ly/AKO-GH4-Basic):
-
Panasonic Lumix GH4- A HDSLR capable of filming in 4K resolution and has the capabilities to film 96fps at 1080p for slow motion shots.
The Panasonic Lumix GH4 is a monster (You can see a review here) and it will be the most affordable DSLR to rise the quality of our DVD to a whole new level.
This is the most affordable but powerful 4K DSLR out there.
This would account for around 3100$ (3000€) out of our 9000$ starting budget.
Editing Equipment:
With 4K shooting capabilities, we'd be presented with a challenge for our video editing equipment. It too would need an upgrade to process the high quality video.
We break it down into more detail in this link:
http://www.hardwareversand.de/pcconfigurator/meinpc/1284330
We would also need a storage solution like this one:
That would net an additional 3200$ (around 2950€)
We really value our transparency. You can find all prices directly on the website where we'll be purchasing the computer components from. This is how you know where the contributions will be spent.
Graphics and Post-production
We want this DVD to be not just packed full of quality content, we want it to be a pleasure to watch on your Full HD and 4K TVs. That is why we are spending the biggest chunk of the funding on video equipment and post-production.
We want to hire a professional Graphics and 3D compositor to create beautiful and clean animations just for this project. We estimate this will be another 1500$ for a project our size, at the basic level. More chapters will bring this number higher.
Day-to-day expenses
Travelling, gas, ammo, range fees - these are just some expenses we will incur during the production of our DVD. We have estimated that if we reserve another 1000$, we will be able to comfortably wade through any obstacle and not endanger the production process in any way.
Q: Yes, Yes, Yes. But, how long will it take?
We believe we should take our time to be able to bring you exactly the vision we'd like to bring with this DVD. We also don't want to promise you anything too soon, that is why we have decided that you will have this DVD by Christmas 2015.
If all goes well, we might even be shipping it out sooner!

We have set aside May to get all our gear ready. This process might move into June if we raise enough money since our gear will have to be carefully selected to maximize results.
June, July and August are months that will mostly be spent finishing up the script, talking with our graphics and design team and finding shooting locations to begin the production process - that is, filming.
The problem here is, these months are where most of us take a short vacation with our families and where most of us have our finals in college. This will slow down the production process, but not by too much, that is why we are taking into account three months.
September and October are reserved for post-production. Here is where we will be focused on editing, graphics and 3D modeling. We will edit the video and prepare it for reproduction to DVDs and BluRays. We expect this part to be shorter, but have reserved an extra month to get everything done properly.
Beginning of November is when we will be sending out all the finished products to you at home, where they should arrive well before Christmas.
Christmas 2015 will be a magical time indeed!
Q: Where can you screw up?
The only risks to this project is that we do not raise the initial amount of funds necessary to fund our project. When we do, most of the responsibility and work is up to us, so there are almost no failure points.
When we fund the project we will finish the pre-production process and go straight to production. When filming finishes, there is only the post-production process left - here we will be at the mercy of our outside helpers, but fear not. We have guns!
No, just kidding. But there will be a bit more logistical issues with communication which will slow things down, but should not be a serious problem.
