New Music Alert!
If I had a dollar for every time someone said, "I love that song, is it recorded? Can I get it somewhere?" and another dollar for every time I said, "Noooo, I'm sorry....I hope to get some songs recorded soon," this album would have been done like, a year ago.
It's been 3 years since my first EP, "Hope" was released. It's time. I'm teaming up with Nolan Quartaroli at True Music Studios in Smithfield, RI, and have a lot of ideas for this new batch of songs (one may or may not involve a children's choir, which I'm losing my MIND over!), and can't wait for us to bring them to life.
In this shitshow of a music business, it's a real challenge for artists to balance what they are told they "should" create--something marketable, "more upbeat," whatever--with what is true and honest to them. Self-doubt is a bitch. Throughout my journey as a songwriter, I've learned to sift through the nonsense, embrace my truth as an artist, and create just that.
We all have our definitions of success, but to me, nothing feels more successful than when I'm approached by an audience member after a show with, "I loved [insert song title here]--it made me cry because [insert personal connection here]." I can tell you without hesitation that these songs are my truth as an artist. And I can also tell you that I'm convinced that that is their power. What is art but a means of human connection, right?
These are songs about life. They're songs about people I've met. A song about my experience as a therapist in a long-term psychiatric hospital, a song about a 13-year old friend who we lost to pediatric cancer, a song about my new home. I hope you love them as much as I do.
Who am I?
I write pretty songs that make people cry. I've collected a few accolades like being a finalist in a few songwriting competitions and stuff. You can find me performing locally in RI as well as regionally and beyond (Rockwood Music Hall, The MET, Huntington Folk Festival, Tucson Folk Festival, to name a few). I am a multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, uke). I am a Mom of two crazy beautiful kids. I am a licensed mental health counselor. I am a photographer. I am a lucky human with an amazing family and tribe of friends and fans. I kickbox. I love the ocean and the f-word.

Ok, so here it comes...
Remember that whole "if I had a dollar..." talk above? Well, this is where you come in. I need some help to make this album happen. And if you know me, you know I hate asking for help. Like, it turns my stomach. And without getting into a pity party, the truth is that there's always another priority that has gotten in the way of making these songs happen (you know, single mom-ing, bill-paying--I'm sure you're all familiar). But with a little from a lot of people, I'll be able to get this music into your ears and hands, and be able to do it with some creative freedom.
I've taken care to create thoughtful "thank you's" for those who choose to help me out. I want to make this worth it for YOU. Take a look and pick your fave!
You want my money? For what?
Making an album is expensive. Here's an idea of what's involved:
- Recording/studio time (charged hourly)
- Paying the best musicians (I play lots of instruments, but not all of them--so I gotta hire awesome peeps for the rest)
- Mixing/mastering (the detailed editing and perfecting--this takes a long time=more hourly studio time)
- Graphic design services (pretty album artwork costs money, cuz artists deserve to get paid)
- CD manufacturing (those things ain't cheap)
- Video/post-release marketing and promotion (if there's funding leftover for that)
- Music video (again, if there's cash leftover)
The more funds I raise, the more songs I can produce, and the more creativity I will be allowed in the process! If I don't meet the goal, the album will still happen--it'll just take a LOT longer (the "Hope" EP took two whole years to complete...) and probably with a lot less creative freedom in production. OR it will turn into a series of singles released over time.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can't afford to help monetarily, I still love you! But please share, share, share!!
