Short Summary
Nice to meet you all I am James Albert the writer/director for Alone In Darkness which is an 8-minute graduation film which seeks to explore the divide between social classes. I am a 3rd Year BA Film Production Student working with a crew of 12 people for the film and the shoot will be a total of 3 days. The story takes place between two different households. Carl and Denise who live in a terraced house and are of a middle-class background and Layla and Damian are of a working-class background. These worlds are connected by the murder of Damian.
What We Need & What You Get
The funding from this page will be going towards our budget for the film. As student filmmakers, we are funding this project entirely by ourselves but will need your support to help us reach our goal of £2,000. The money will be used to pay for the actor's expenses including travel and catering, in addition to locations, production design, camera equipment and accommodation for the crew. Finances for the factors above will help us to create the world of this film and enable us to carry out the production without any concerns. The funds will still be used for production if we are not able to reach our goal. You will also be given access to the finished film through the Vimeo link once post-production is complete.
The Impact
The film explores how ordinary day-to-day actions of both middle and working-class people can have an impact on each other. With the current cost of the living crisis impacting many lives of working-class families this winter, we thought it would be an appropriate time to make this film. Families are struggling to heat their homes and many people are facing financial difficulties in paying electricity bills. As it is our graduation film, this project is significant to us all as it would be the final project to bring our filmmaking education to an end. It is important for us to show our versatility as filmmakers and to future employees who may see the project as part of our portfolio.
Risks & Challenges
As student filmmakers, we may have risks to complete the project as we have had such a short turnaround to complete the crewing process and a very small window for our shoot, however with resilience we will be able to complete the film hand-in and make a project that could potentially enter competitions and screenings.
