When Alter der Ruine creates, we do so to the best of our abilities and challenge ourselves in new ways to ensure diversity and growth as artists. We know that whatever it is we set out to do, it won’t be a minor effort. From live shows to recorded material ,to the countless people we’ve met along the way, we’ve definitely carved a strange path over the years.
Not knowing what to expect from our sound has made AdR an off the beaten path project. It’s also kind of what makes us Alter der Ruine. From powernoise roots to synthpop excursions, we’re not an easy act to pin down (please feel free to swing by our discography for more on that). What is amazing though is that our scenic, beaten path has been picking up traffic a lot these days. Between relentless touring and a fevered output we’ve gained a rolling momentum. What’s taken years to build is surfacing in exciting ways and it is all because of the support and interest of those we’ve met and played for. People like you.
You, our listeners and show goers, are an awesome breed that harbor an enthusiasm that is contagious. It’s why we tour the way we do and play the way we play. Without you, we are just a band making music. With you we are part of an experience; a moment remembered for what it is and what it was. Our histories collide and we take from the impact what we will and for us, this is our vessel to communicate on a larger level; to share, develop and be part of a vibrant community. What we’ve cultivated isn’t limited to just our band. It goes further, radiating out to all of you who have been with us for years, to those of you just discovering us, to those we bump into who have no idea what we do but show up for a show anyway because that’s the kind of great people we cross paths with. We’re all moving our own ways, we just happen to be headed towards you and we’re bringing some electronic music.
So what is this all about? Well, our batteries are juiced and we’ll be hitting the road this November with The Rain Within. Both our projects are passion driven and we do this stuff because it is what we want to be doing. One way or another it happens. That said, with your support we are able to do it much better. The hassles of touring are unique and while we fund ourselves, any help along the way is beyond appreciated.
To make this tour a little easier on our sparking wires we’re offering a bunch of options to get our music in your hands and possibly help get us to play in your town. We’re not fans of something for nothing, so every donation will receive something. There are a bunch of different options and bonuses ranging from digital download bundles to music lessons to full on Alter der Ruine remixes to some of the crazy gear we’ve amassed in our decade plus of sonic canvasing. We have an odd history and want to include whoever wishes to be a part of it. With your help we won’t necessarily have to sleep in the van or eat a discount deep fried biscuit & gravy (no complaints there, it was straight delicious). Your support helps us do what we do, from the live aspect on down to helping us put a few gallons into the gas tank.
