Plastics are destroying our oceans and it's way more serious of a problem than any war, political or economic issues. You may have already heard the rumors of this plastic island of floating trash called the Pacific Garbage Patch that is caught up in the strong vortex's of the Northern Gyres.
Well... unfortunately it's not a rumor. It's very real.

This plastic island of floating trash was once rumored to be twice the size of texas, but upon careful re-examination it is now estimated to be the size of the continental United States. It is so devastating that even if we all stopped using plastics tommorrow, it has already left an environmental impact that will take thousands of years to recover from.

So what can we do about it? "Well, we can all stop using disposable plastics" says author, filmmaker, and environmental surfer Veronica Grey. We use these plastic bags for approximately 5 to 10 minutes after we leave the grocery store and then just throw it away. Well there is no "away". Plastics do not biodegrade, they do not simply disappear.

That's when award-winning iPhone filmmaker Veronica Grey aka The Surf Lady got the idea to start documenting her exploration into the world of plastics and how our obsession with single-use disposable plastics eventually ends up polluting our oceans forever. What she discovers is startling. Firstly, she learns that there is already a bio-plastic alternative available, but getting companies to switch their packaging is the hard part, because customers don't seem to want it. Then she learns there's not just 1 but 5 ocean garbage patches!!!
![The Surf Lady The Surf Lady]()
Well...that was enough for The Surf Lady because she knew something was terribly wrong with that picture. The decision was made to start documenting these "Garbage Patches" and to really look into finding eco-friendly alternatives to chemical plastics. The Surf Lady has been contacting the companies of all the favorite products you love and encouraging them to switch to compostable plastic packaging in hopes of saving ourselves from a cataclysmic event.
We are the problem, and we are the solution!
With your help we will be able to bring this important ocean-saving documentary to the world and onto movie screens everywhere. It is our hope that once presented with the information in this film, we will inspire people to make the necessary changes away from disposable plastics and to focus on more earth-friendly bio-plastics and compostable packaging. You may not be aware that approximately 25% of the earth's surface is now considered to be "garbage landfill." That is a startling fact.
We may not be able to solve all the problems of Ocean Pollution but we certainly don't need to be contributing to it anymore. Join us in our campaign to get rid of harmful toxic chemical plastics that do not break-down or biodegrade! Help us get this important environmental message out there into the public awareness. We've made it our mission to stop this plastic madness and so should you! Each one of us has contributed to these plastic problems, now each one of us has to contribute to the inevitable solutions!
