Ars Futura
IS a new music group comprised of mixed wind, string, and keyboard instruments. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for collaboration between composers and Ars Futura performers. We hope to redefine the concert experience of new music to the public, dissolving the boundaries between the performers and audience members. The main goal of Ars Futura is to perform and commission new music. In order for our art form to continue evolving, we believe that we must advocate the invention and performance of new compositions.
Ars Futura is founded and directed by pianist Shuai Wang, who received her doctoral degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music (Piano, CIM). Other musicians in the ensemble include Madeline Lucas (Masters in Flute, CIM), Carlos Javier (Masters in Cello, CIM), Emily Cornelius (Masters in Violin, New England Conservatory) and Hyunsoo Kim (Masters in Piano, CIM).
Ars Futura needs your support for an exciting upcoming project. In January and February, the group will embark on a four-city tour, performing newly-commissioned works by five living composers:
-Keith Fitch, Head of composition, Cleveland Institute of Music, http://keithfitch.com
-Joseph Hallman, Adjunct faculty, Drexel University, Composer-in-Residence, Rosenbach Museum (Philadelphia)

-Marshall Griffith, Faculty of Theory, Cleveland Institute of Music

-Tim Mauthe, Visiting faculty of composition and theory, College of William and Mary, http://www.mauthemusic.com
-Eric Charnofsky, 2012 Ohio Music Teachers Association "Composer of the Year", http://music.case.edu/personnel/lecturers/eric-charnofsky
This project will allow us to commission three brand-new works by composer Joseph Hallman in Philadelphia, to conduct workshops and perform with the Baltimore Symphony’s ORCHkids program, and to collaborate with the Classical Revolution Baltimore and Classical Revolution Pittsburgh.
What We Need
Please help to make Ars Futura’s first project a success! Funding is urgently needed for commissions, performance venues, and live-recording equipment. Your generous donations also cover musicians’ pay, transportation, and lodging expenses.
