Short Summary
We are Oyster Creatives, a highly experienced film and theatre production company. We produce entertaining and engaging work about social issues.
This feature film is a story that needs to be told. It is a comedy thriller about the pathology of denial and how it obstructs the urgent need to address impending environmental disaster.
We need to make this film as widely available as possible to enable people to view these issues with fresh eyes and challenge them to change their thinking.
What We Need & What You Get
We have already received donations worth £20,000 from various sources. We need to raise £15,000 to make the movie – but the first £10,000 donated before the end of July 2022 will be matched by one of our donors. This amount will pay for cast, crew, equipment and locations on a low budget basis. Our stretch target would be a further £20,000 to pay for post-production costs – chiefly editing and sound.
If we reach £7500 our donor will double that to enable us to make the film. If we reach £10,000 we can make the film and have £5000 towards post production. A further £15,000 will see the movie completed and we will enter it at various festivals with a view to finding a platform for distribution.
If we don’t make the initial target of £7500 we will ask donors if they wish to proceed while we seek alternative funding to make up the shortfall.
The Impact
This film will not immediately change the world – but it could change enough minds to reverse the denial which would ultimately see the destruction of our planet.
Risks & Challenges
We want to use our film as a means to entertain while illuminating the challenges we face.
We have a successful track record as producers, delivering projects with the Arts Council of England, the UK theatre circuit and international festivals. As writers we have collaborated on features and short films. We work with a pool of award-winning and high-profile actors and musicians.
We are very aware of the risks involved in making a low budget feature, so we have set a realistic target to enable us to make the film. We will be transparent with donors about our progress and will consult with them about their involvement should we not reach our initial target.
