A WEEKEND IN THE WOODS
Five community college students and their professor set out to document unprecedented evidence of a rare fanged deer species never-before-seen in the foothills of the Cascades... the musk deer - Or is it something more sinister? In the name of science, they depart on a weekend-long field trip and quickly discover that they are not alone: someone (or someTHING) is in the woods with them. Our would-be adventurers come face-to-fang with evolution’s newest predator, the ultimate shape-shifter, and find they are nowhere near the top of this particular food chain…

Pacific Northwest actors like the hilarious JEFF BROSY (Animal House, Betrayal and Bullets), CHYNNA RAE SHURTS (Pillow Party Massacre, Conjuring: The Beyond), the captivating KATIE GIBBONS (Blind Duet, Take a Hike) and newcomer WESTON OLIVER bring a depth to their performance that is truly breathtaking. We are so fortunate to be working with such an inspiring group of individuals, all of whom are leaders in their own right. Without their heartfelt dedication and continued belief that this project is something truly special, it wouldn't be what it is today. Our main ensemble also features some amazing actors from all over the country including MELODY PARRA (Nena, Devotion), JACOB RAYL (It'll be OK), LEVEE DUPLAY (Operation Hope, Birds Eye Whitness) and PAUL ADDISON (The Killing of Billy the Kid).
We also have some familiar faces in BAMPIRE including DIANE FRANKLIN (Better Off Dead, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Amityville II), LLOYD KAUFMAN (The Toxic Avenger, TROMA Entertainment), VERONA BLUE (V/H/S 99, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and the one-and-only GREG SESTERO (The Room, The Disaster Artist, Miracle Valley).

Being fully independent means we've been operating without the aid of a major film studio or production company. We are taking a risk and making a movie we want to watch:

THE ANIMATION
Think 'Evil Dead 2' meets 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'
In a story where animals are so prominently featured, we had a decision to make, and our analog, 90’s sensibilities told us to turn to hand drawn animation instead of CGI. JOSH STIFTER, known for his work with movie legends like Robert Rodriguez and Kevin Smith, including the animated sequences in the A24 movie TUSK, is onboard to help us bring this multi-media vision to life!

Fun Fact: The original novella Bambi: a Life in the Woods by Felix Saltan has entered the public domain and there’s nothing D*sney can do about it. Our movie is deeply inspired by his allegories for war and the inherent struggle of any creature surviving the natural world.

BAMPIRE Director, Taylor Morden, spent his high school years filming his experiences through a hand-held VHS camcorder, making him a perfect fit for this 90's era VHS inspired horror flick! You may know him from his nostalgic documentaries, such as the #1 Netflix documentary the Last Blockbuster, as well as Pick it Up: Ska in the 90’s and the upcoming Getting LOST documentary that was successfully funded right here on Indiegogo! Alongside his amazing partner, BAMPIRE Producer and UPM, Emily Claire, this incredible duo has dedicated countless hours to this wildly ambitious project!

Screenwriter, Zoë Wassman, spent twenty formative years in rural Alaska, an experience that developed her gritty yet humorous sensibilities. She has poured her heart and soul into this movie, as it is a result of a lifetime in the woods and a heartfelt tribute to the shelves of 90's films stocked in her local movie store. Herself and Co-Creator, Malachite Saaquya, bring a genuine love for filmmaking and a ferocious optimism to this project that is integral to its success.

We have achieved many of our goals by adapting and learning together. For all of us, this movie is a labor of love, for one another, for being able to have this experience, and for the true heart of the piece itself. It shows in every frame.

Contribute to our campaign, and with the money we raise, we will be able to Finish Production, include hand-drawn animation, achieve a haunting edit, with professional color grading, an immersive sound mix and if we exceed our goal, we'd be able to submit BAMPIRE to film festivals, screen it theatrically and maybe even include some rad 90's tunes... We have a collection of beautiful footage, but we need help stitching it together so it can compete against the film-giants saturating the market.
