Short Summary

The story BATEY is based on factual non-provoked events of harrassment, unspoken murders and deportation in the Dominican Republic.

SYSNOSIS:

A Haitian man named JEAN CLAUDE DESSALINES 40 years old, fed up with life in the countryside of Haiti, convinces his wife CLAIRE of selling of all their possessions to travel to the Dominican Republic in search of a better life with their two kids, JEAN BAPTISTE & CLAUDIA.



After two years in the Dominican Republic working as “bateys” in the sugar cane field in deplorable conditions, the sugarcane field owners along with some rogue police officers raped Jean Claude's 16 years daughter CLAUDIA DESSALINES. To cover up their crime because of the gruesome physical condition they left her in, due to her brutal rape, they decided to kill her altogether and disposed of the body by burning it.



Furious as a parent should be and like most of the millions of stateless Haitians living in the Dominican Republic facing constant discrimination and at times violence, Jean Claude was voiceless and powerless until he met a young Dominican boy by the name of PEDRO who witnessed the brutal raped and told Jean Claude all about of what happened to his beloved daughter CLAUDIA.



With years of caged in anger, Jean Claude becomes a fabricated lawless beast. He decided to avenge his daughter’s death by going on a killing spree of the sugar cane field owners and police officers and his only weapon of choice is the same machete he uses on the sugar plantation.

Now with every man and woman in the Dominican Republic in his pursuit and wanting him dead as an undocumented fugitive and murderer, Jean Claude is determined to remain alive to expose the truth. 

What We Need & What You Get

I am investing my own money into this project as well.  I'm fully equipped with all of the cinematic gears needed for the production.  But We need to raise this extra fund to be able to afford lodging, transportation and food for cast and crew for 28 days travelling to Haiti, Dominican Republic ad MIami FL.

We will be shooting mainly in Haiti and the Dominican Republic with minute production in the US.

We will, in return reward contributors with perks from:                           Supporters, Assisitant Producers,  and Producers of the Production.  

We will have Two Executive Producers Slots open as well.

ALL REWARD DEPENDS ON LEVEL OF CONTRIBUTION.

If in any event we do not reach our estimated goal,  We will still shoot the production with what we have.

If as well we exceed our estimated goal, we would make a contribution of 10% to an institution like: Domestic Violence Awareness charity or Prevention of Abuse Children charity.  We will conduct a vote with all contributors to determine where the money should go.

The Impact

This project is valuable to me as it is to you and to the world to bring awareness agaisnt Human Rights Violence.  The condition those workers live is not even suitable for a murderer emprisoned in the US.

Those people are voiceless - Let's be their voices through art and entertainment with a film like BATEY.
