Capri's Apothecary -
Who I am and what it is.
Hello angels, my name is Caesar or as many call me Capri. I'm a 21 year old black lesbian creative based out the West Coast. Most of my life I have been vegetarian, plant-based and sustainable/holistic. Well, what is sustainable and holistic? Sustainability is the practice of small waste lifestyle. To do your best in making sure everything you have gets used and one doesn't create extra trash etc. Holistic is natural living, so many people who live holistically tend to make their own medicine, body care items, household cleaning items etc etc. (Yes, I do this too.)
I started being sustainable and holistic pretty much right out of high school at 17 years old. It was important to me to get back to my roots, to get back to earth and show all my gratitude toward her. However, what people don't know about the holistic community is that it's saturated in whiteness and can be exclusionary for lower income, younger, black and brown folk. That's another part of my mission, to make this accessible to kids like me. I didn't have a lot of money at all when I started this and growing my essential oil collection has been a years long project. I want sustainable switches to be affordable and to make holistic/organic product affordable for people like me too.
Which leads me to this, Capri's. Capri's was born out of years long debate and a very fortunate accident. After posting a picture of my essential oil collection and people deciding I was worth it, I fully decided to open my shop. Focusing (right now) primarily on body care. Butters, oils and soaps. Each item is prayed over, charged and blessed. Either with prayer, crystals, the sun or the moon. There is a heavy spiritual influence and attachment to my products.
I'm making this indiegogo to ask for help and ask for a chance to grow. Funding this alone while also trying to make moves for my personal life can and has gotten difficult. I want to be able to expand. Into something even bigger than this, for the community. For my community, black lesbian girls and queer folk alike.
I sincerely hope you all will give me a chance.
Yours, Capri.
