My name is Carolina Osuna. I am 25-years-old, and I currently live in Boulder, Colorado. When I was a child I lived in Mexico where I witnessed a lot of danger and violence. Eventually I moved to the United States, where I had to culturally adapt, and grow up in a Hispanic, low-income household and community where I lacked many financial and emotional resources and positive role models. I was able to become fluent in English language despite the fact that my parents do not speak English. I have been working many part-time and full-time jobs ever since I was sixteen years old, in order to support myself throughout my higher education journey. I am the first in my family to complete a Bachelor’s degree, graduate from college, and pursue a Master’s degree in Somatic Counseling Psychology. Through resources in Boulder, such as Surfing the Creative®, I continue to work on my healing process.

After overcoming so many obstacles myself, I work to help others in my community. I currently volunteer to mentor high school students in Boulder, Colorado with an organization called Philanthropiece. I am a Youth Global Leadership Mentor I Support high school students in accomplishing goals through effective and caring mentorship. I create a safe and nurturing space for the successful development of the self, ideas, and passions. It is very important to me to support my mentees in their educational and emotional development by being present, engaged and actively listening.

Surfing the Creative® inspires me to continue to work on myself, do my own healing, and at the same time it gives me hope to be able to bring this kind of work to other underprivileged communities around the world. Being part of Surfing the Creative® grants me a safe space where I can work on my own healing and developmental process so that I can be of service to others. Surfing the Creative® supports my development and growth as a young adult and agent of positive change in the world. I am inspired to share and give access to this kind psychotherapeutic work to underprivileged and culturally diverse communities around the world. My goal is to be able to provide accessible caring and supporting bilingual mental health services to communities in need throughout the United States and internationally. My wish is to help culturally diverse individuals to heal emotional trauma and shift difficult emotional patterns by using body oriented counseling techniques.

I received a scholarship from Golden Bridge which partially covers my program fees. I am able to pay my living expenses and travel expenses out-of-pocket. I am attempting to raise this $600 to pay for part of my tuition. I appreciate any support you can give me at this time. If you are not able to financially contribute, please help me by sharing this page on Facebook. Thank you!
