We are Strange Cargo Arts Company and we have been running the Charivari Day Carnival for the past 20 years.
11,000 people have worked with us and taken part in Charivari from the surrounding area from the last 20 years - and the children from the first parade are now the parents from the next generation of carnival participants, which we think is a major achievment. Charivari Day will be taking over the streets of Folkestone on the 9th July and to prepare for this we will be making hundreds of wonderful costumes with people from the community, and from the Schools throughout the area, to get ready for the day. The young people who join in have the chance to work in a professional creative environment, with specialised carnival artists, then celebrate what they have learnt by showing off their amazing carnival costumes on the day.
Funding is harder to find than ever, so we are asking you to help us make this extraordinary day of community celebration, spectacle and music happen by supporting our campaign. If everyone who has joined in over the years can make a small contribution it would be brilliant.
We promise to deliver an amazing event and with your support we will be able to do this.
This is a free event for the community, anyone can be involved and many thousands of people come out to be a part of this colourful day.
Thank you.
