Overview
Support the Pasadena Museum of California Art (PMCA) in our efforts to exhibit the historic mural "Chicano History." Funds raised through this campaign will directly cover costs of transportation, installation, and insurance of the mural for the duration of our exhibition.

On January 21, 2018, the Pasadena Museum of California Art (PMCA) opened its Spring 2018 round of exhibitions, including Testament of the Spirit: Paintings by Eduardo Carrillo.

As a part of this exhibition, the Pasadena Museum of California Art (PMCA) has unveiled the monumental and historic mural Chicano History for the first time in 28 years. The mural was created in 1970 by artists Eduardo Carrillo, Ramses Noriega, Sergio Hernandez and Dr. Saul Solache for the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center, just before the start of the Chicano Moratorium. This is considered the first Chicano mural at a U.S. university, and a powerful statement of the times.

While the mural was scheduled to be displayed at a future exhibitions in Sacramento, it was not originally scheduled for display in its hometown of Los Angeles. Realizing the artistic and historic nature of the mural, the PMCA immediately committed to exhibiting the mural at its own expense, giving denizens of the Greater LA area the opportunity to view the mural, live on display, right here in Pasadena.

As part of fulfilling and funding that commitment, the PMCA has launched a fundraising campaign specifically dedicated to covering the expenses related to installing the mural in our gallery. We would be remiss were we not to offer YOU—our dedicated, art-loving public—the opportunity to help in the funding of this rediscovered masterpiece.

Be part of history by supporting the Pasadena Museum of California Art’s current exhibition of the mural Chicano History. Simply click on the link to our Indiegogo campaign portal to make your donation today. All donations are welcome!

Funds raised through this campaign help to cover costs of transportation, installation, and insurance of the mural for the duration of our exhibition Testament of the Spirit: Paintings of Eduardo Carrillo, which opened to the public on January 21, 2018 and will close on June 3, 2018.
