Our Story

Hello, my name is Catherine Knowles. I have started a small business with my husband Karlton Knowles. We are located here in Houston Texas and we provide catering services and lunch/dinners to businesses, families and churches. We call ourselves "Church Plates"; good ol' home-style southern cooking at a reasonable price. We want people to have the opportunity to "experience the taste of Sunday dinner everyday!" Church Plates wants to keep the tradition of having Sunday dinner after church - a tradition about bringing friends & family together to fellowship over food.

The Impact

Currently Church Plates is our sole source of income. We have a 4 year old and a 9 month old and we can't fail. We want to become successful in this so we can provide a better life for our children. No longer do we want to live paycheck to paycheck; or have to sacrifice just to pay the bills. We are very hard working individuals and we deserve this!

We want to be able to not only support ourselves, but give back to the community and help those in need.

What We Need & What You Get

We are looking for people in the Houston area to utilize our catering services and buy group plates. Every purchase gets us a step closer to opening up our own location. The goal is to acquire a location where we can accommodate more customers and daily orders. Currently we are doing everything from our home; we would love a location so people can come and pick up from us as well. We are looking to raise $10,000 in the next couple of months. This will help us to secure a location (deposit and last month rent,) establish a pantry and help support us until business starts to boom. If we don't reach our goals, we will use the monies raised and refocus it into advertising and continue business as usual. We are just praying to reach our goals to take our business to the next level.

For those not in the Houston area (or those in the Houston area that don't want the food services,) we gladly take donations to help support the cause. Anything you can contribute will help us get that much closer to our goals!

Other Ways You Can Help

Please spread the word!! Someone somewhere in Houston always needs food!! We also want to network with professionals in the fields allied to catering such as wedding planners, event planners, wedding photographers/videographers, bridal shops, wedding cake makers, wedding officials, funeral homes and even other large caterers (we can take your smaller catering job off your hands)...let's establish a referral partnership!!!
